DV8
Taking one unit of long fangs isnt even a situational unit DV8, not in my experiance anyways- if your meched up them give them a Razorback and let them give your rhinos *who should be moving fast to where theyre needed eh?* some covering fire... and then pack up and move if need be. The only time my LFs havent made back their points in 5th was once when they took a battlecannon to the face turn 1 and I failed 4 out of 5 cover saves, and the pack leader still managed to cause some distractions on the flank. To be honest to me they are. The very fact that they might need to spend a turn or two either moving up into position, or redeploying into a "better" position and forgoing their shooting is to me one of the major downsides to Long Fangs. At least "traditionally". Even with a Razorback, I don't enjoy losing that turn of firepower, which is why I prefer Land Speeders to give me the firepower I need. Is it pricier? Absolutely. But I think the minor increase in costs for the tactical flexibility that Typhoons and Tornadoes grant me is well worth it. Plus I love the absolute badass look of the Land Speeders. Hands down they are my favorite vehicle in the entire Games Workshop range, followed closely by the Land Raider. HQ // Wolf Lord Ragnar Blackmane HQ // Rune Priest Jormunrek Skallagrim - Chooser of the Slain, Living Lightning, Jaws of the World Wolf Elites // 3 Wolf Guard - 3 Power Fists, 3 Combi-Flamers Troops // 8 Grey Hunters - Meltagun, Rhino Troops // 8 Grey Hunters - Meltagun, Rhino Troops // 9 Grey Hunters - Meltagun, Rhino Troops // 10 Grey Hunters - 2 Meltaguns, Power Weapon, Drop Pod Fast Attack // 2 Typhoons Fast Attack// Tornado - Multi-Melta, Heavy Flamer Fast Attack // Tornado - Multi-Melta, Heavy Flamer That's my 1500 point list (and I've been toying around with the idea of dropping Ragnar Blackmane for a second Rune Priest, a pack of Wolf Scouts, and a Wolf Guard Pack Leader to join them..but that's down the road. Now I did mention "traditional" Long Fangs above, because I am in the process of building a "Logan-wing" army that actually uses a few units that I never normally do, i.e. tons of Wolf Guard, Swift Claw Bikers, and a Long Fang pack (that will be joined by Logan). So I'm not saying they don't have their place. Some people swear by them and field multiple packs, some find them useful and field one. For my playstyle, I find them to be quite situational and not on my "top must-field" units. Grey Mage
Some day youll have to post pictures of your tables, I want to see the kind of terrain youd have to redeploy for. Though yes, Typhoons are dead sexy fire support. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197916-fighting-nids/page/2/#findComment-2368261 Share on other sites

Again, it's not like I'm redeploying every turn, or that sometimes I even have to, but by their very static nature, sometimes I would have to redeploy to properly support my blitzers. And as I play a very aggressive/defensive "in your face" army, Having mobile Typhoons and Tornadoes allows me to more readily support my army, as well as being aggressive themselves.
