tahrikmili
Ok, so I made a lot of progress with the Terminator Squad.. good old plastic hunchback bulldogs with the old school heavy flamer. I love these models, I don't know why. It was really fun working on them. I hope this weekend's effort was worth it. As soon as I get the sergeant up to this stage as well I'll do the final highlights with Plaid FolkArt Red Light and then work on the metallics, finish the bases and call them done. I also sort of finished basecoating the Devastator Squad. I'm using the Sergeant with the magnetized Bolter arm I posted a while back, I'm considering painting a Power Fist arm for him as well while I'm at it. But the Devastators are for another update another day, it's been tiring and there's work tomorrow. So enjoy  All feedback welcome! P.S. First time I tried my new camera (Panasonic FZ-35) with miniatures and I love it.
skyst
I love the red! Are you using all "Plaid Folk Art" paints? I like simple, clean, classic theme on the old models. An entire army like that would look really neat.
Inquisitor_Lensoven
i have a squad of those old terminators. they're so static compared to the new ones!
tahrikmili
I love the red! Are you using all "Plaid Folk Art" paints? Yes and no. The only GW Citadel paint I have on these models is Blood Red and Baal Red, because I didn't want them to look too different from the rest of my army, but now that I think about it I could have easily gone for Plaid FolkArt Lipstick Red instead of Blood Red, they look very much the same. The rest are all Plaid FolkArt. How I paint is; 1. Prime Grey (But I primed these five red as an experiment) 2. Basecoat Blood Red 3. Paint on a controlled and thin coat of Baal Red wash. 4. Highlight with blood Red 5. Blackline with thinned down Pure Black (GW Chaos Black replacement) - I'm at this stage 6. Final highlight with Plaid FolkArt Red Light (GW Blazing Orange replacement) Other FolkArt colors I used: Grass Green for the eyes (GW Scorpion Green replacement) Gunmetal Grey for metallics (GW Boltgun Metal replacement) Lipstick Red for highlights (GW Blood Red replacement) Real Brown for bone basecoat (GW Scorched Brown replacement, maybe a bit darker) Linen for bone (GW Bleached Bone replacement, maybe a bit darker) Warm White for bone final highlight (Something between GW Skull White and GW Bleached Bone) In hindsight I should've kept the blacklining a little thinner and tidier but I was getting tired and bored so sort of sped up a bit.. Doesn't look bad to me at all but I think I could've done better. Oh well. I'll do better on the Termie Captain.
tahrikmili
An Update. Finished with red. Will do the highlights for the blacks, give the metals a black wash, do the bases and call them done. Oh, and the banner, but that's sort of coming along. Sort of feels like I won't have enough time to get much work done on the Devastators and fail my vow ;)
tahrikmili
Well, almost finished. I like how they turned out. Not the best, but whatever
tahrikmili
Well, the BAPC is over and I failed but I'll just continue posting my terminators and devastators until they are done and my vow is complete, whenever that may be. So in keeping my motivations up for these two squads, here's yet another WIP of their final status. These *will* be finished tonight.. But I need your help B&C, what do you think, what can I improve? And most importantly, what should I do with the Power Sword? Point me to any good tutorials?
Liath
I would suggest you to : -Add more highlights (maybe with orange ?) (not enough contrast to my opinion) -Add a banner -Drill bolters holes :D -Work the bases
teeef
They need some more interest. You could put decorations on the fists – even a simple blood drop would help. Also the knee pad could have a squad mark. Over all need some edge highlights to help break up the red areas. What you have so far looks pretty smooth so the paint so far is fine. Also bringing up the base by adding some interest there will really 'ground' the models. Ah. Puns. Is it Friday yet?
tahrikmili
Another update, cross posted from my blog: I'm not dead, but I haven't been getting much painting done. The Terminators are all but done, and I'm currently finishing up with the bases as I find the time. I'll add moss to the remaining bases, and some static grass to all of them and they'll be finished. I'm really proud of how they turned out. Really. I've also started with one Honor Guard and one Devastator Squad. All the Blood Red is down and I'm finished with painting the blacks on the Devastators, next up are the Honor Guard. I think I'm starting to speed up a little. Not much, but a little.. Brother Jim
Not to nitpick--they are nice looking--but you really need to drill out the barrels on the weapons... :)
tahrikmili
Finally had some time to paint, so a little update.. I've made some progress with the Devastators.. I actually went ahead and finished one of them, except for the basing.. I'm now working on the second blacklined figure. Then I'll blackline the rest. I might finish them in a week! I also took a new and better photo of the Terminators. Man I like them :P
Mudpuppet
Those termies are so old school, but they are beautifully painted none the less. Deffinately some pro painting skills there, i like the fact that they are detailed but still simple. Great job. Mudpuppet

tahrikmili
Second Devastator is almost done. All that I need on both is minor touchups here and there where I made mistakes, then basing. I like how they are turning out! (I'll finish this vow, at last, it seems!)
