Wolves didnt do too good...

Small 3 game tourney yesterday and went 2 loses and 1 win.

New armylist but I really must have pissed off the dice gods because the day was just a series of bad rolls during key movements or shots.

Land Raider was immobilized twice in terrain and then once on first turn, first round of shooting forcing foot slogging termies in all three games.

Rune Priest not wounding greater daemon on 2+ to force an easy instakill.

Losing whole pod of Grey Slayers to mishap with a huge scatter.

Just craptastic MoW and Living Lightning rolls, D6 rolls of 1-2 consistantly.

So maybe playtest the list a couple more times with new dice and drown this weekend in a bunch of beer.

If it was just the bad rolling, then sacrifice the offending dice to the dice gods, and get some new ones ;).

New lists can sometimes mean a change of play style as well, and going into a tourney with a list your not yet used to is always a tricky scenario.

What was the old list compared to the new one? Has it been a full change in tactics, or more just switching around a few units? "Friendly lists" tourney, or power gamers allowed / what were you versing?

Don't Daemons have eternal warrior? So you can't instakill them anyway?

It was a summoned greater daemon in a Chaos Unidivided army, not Daemon army.

It really was just horrible rolling and not the new list. My tactics were solid, but a real lack of getting the rolls. For example, against my Chaos Undivided opponent I came in an awesome flank attack against a lone vindicator that he would only be able to counter/support with his rhinos via a choke point between impassable terrain and his board edge or by going all the around said impassable terrain. It took Two Grey Hunter squads with meltas via drop pod and a 6 strong bike pack/w WGPL with melta and powerfist, all within 6" min range for meltas, to destroy said vindicator. I mean just mass melta misses or failing to damage until I finally popped on it on a penetrating 6. Rather then being able to set-up for the incoming rhinos into the choke point with two squads, I am wasting a whole turn on bad rolls. And then to support my squads with my Land Raider with HQ and WG, I try to cross the little finger of the terrain BASE sticking out in front of me and roll a 1 forcing them to try to foot slog two turns up to battle versus being sped up there in one turn.

What?, only way to lose a pod is by scattering off the table, no mishap table on drop pods

I was informed by staff that it can't scatter off the table, it stops 1" from the relevant table edge. Likewise if it scatters into terrain, you place it 1" away from the terrain feature.

the guidance system of a drop pod only works against a few things, impassable terrain and enemy models iirc but it certainly doesn't prevent them from scattering off table.

If they can scatter off the table, then you had better never place one within 12" of the table edge, that is way too risky. Also the Drop Pod can land on difficult and dangerous Terrain, it only moves away from Impassable terrain. A drop pod, could land on top of a building if there was enough room for it.

I scattered 11" off the table.

My only win came against orcs in which I destroyed a huge unit of Boyz, 3 squads of Dethkoptas of 3 koptas each, Big Mek and unit of his Nobz, and over half the Warboss' Nobz while only losing my bike unit and some Grey Slayers.

The combination of murderous hurricane and a few short range bolters can do the job on Orks.

In fact murderous hurricane is a great psychic power. I should really keep a running tally of it's victims. Three wounds off a daemon prince (after a krak missile had taken the first) was a notable recent kill. Actually that daemon prince had the worst luck. It was a black crusade mission so he could keep bringing it back. First turn it died to krak and hurricane, third turn my Wolf Guard Battle Leader took it down in close combat, and in the fifth turn I took it's final wound with a skyclaw's bolt pistol. It was the last skyclaw too.

My default powers on my terminator priest are murderous hurricane and jaws of the world wolf. Jaws is great for popping low initiative units (like Tau HQs) and the occasional 6 has even taken down a few more interesting targets.
