sniperhavens
What are the applications of giving a Wolf Lord or WGBL Saga of the Hunter? What can they do that makes it worth it? Matt D
nothing. you can't use scouts OBEL rule with it and you are never going to send him out on his own. its a waste of points. This point is still debatable and I have the god fortune of gaming with people who would happily let me do just that. wolvesoffenris
You cannot OBEL with the scouts, but the FAQ lets you outflank with them if you wish. It isn't the best use of points though. BEL is an extension of Outflank though, it's simply a modification of an existing rule (via a change on the dice rolls and table edges) but whenever a Scout pack outflaks it uses the BEL table, there is no mention of them being able to carry out a normal Outflank. As said, it's up for debate with your opponent. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/198040-saga-of-the-hunter/#findComment-2358903 Share on other sites
postal105
Wolf scouts still have the scout rule and that rule then allows you to use normal outflank rule as it states in the big rule book that any unit that has the scout special rule that this rule then confers a special outflank move to the unit of scouts that are kept in reserve. So from that wording if a Wolf Lord or WGBL with Saga of the Hunter were to join a wolf scout unit then the wolf scouts lose their BEL rule and instead use the normal outflank rule that is because the Independent charter special rules state that in some instances though the unit may lose its special rule as a result of the independent charter joining the unit for example a independent charter with out the infiltrate special rule joins a unit with it then unit then loses that special rule. it then says look at the universal special rule section and ti lists 6 rules in that section all marked with the (*) that are lost automatically by the unit being joined by a independent charter with out it and as the saga of the hunter says it gives said independent charter the scout rule and the stealth rule the wolf scouts would lose BEL but could still use normal scout/outflank also as stealth is not on of the rules lost by joining a unit with it to a unit with out it i would think that the saga of the hunter charter that joins the unit then confers the stealth rule to the wolf scout unit but this is just how i see it working this is because wolf scouts cant buy camouflages cloaks kind of an expensive way to give a unit camo cloks but hey. Schertenleib
This has been argued to death lately. Let's not get into it again. Hate to say it but... Use the search funtion. Lord Ragnarok
Agreed. Please limit the discussion to "if I use OBEL how should I equip" OR "if I use the normal outflank how should I equip?" Debating if we can or not will have the thread locked. Debating if we can or not will have the thread locked. Following Lord Rag's guidance, I'll not comment on the use of BEL or not (although I am in the camp that the Independent Character, Wolf Scouts, and attached Wolf Guard Leader can all enter play via BEL). Assume at least that the IC can join the Scouts and conduct an Outflank with them. First point - Wolf Lords do not have the option for Saga of the Hunter, only Wolf Priests or Wolf Guard Battle Leaders can take it. Second point - pretty much all Independent Characters in the game are geared toward close combat and ours are no exception. There are several ways to get your ICs into close combat, but they all require some sort of mobility. Common techniques are Drop Pods, Bikes, Rhinos or Land Raiders. Those are all pretty good ways to make your way toward the enemy. Walking onto the table right behind a juicy target along with some armed-for-close-combat Wolf Scouts is a pretty good way too. Depending on the game I would definitely consider using a Wolf Priest to lead an anti-infantry based Wolf Scout pack.
