Levitas
Heres a pic or 2 of my new Wolf Lord on Thunder Wolf mount. Using the Dandy wolves. Still have 4 more to paint my the end of the month to accomplish my painting vow. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_x1vt2GUjp_I/S8RkZoQKwvI/AAAAAAAAAIs/bMPVd3XFocI/s1600/Eryk_leftside2.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_x1vt2GUjp_I/S8RkZDrK2tI/AAAAAAAAAIk/2LlTxHocl9g/s1600/Eryk_rightside.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_x1vt2GUjp_I/S8RkYtv7PYI/AAAAAAAAAIc/Ya_Rq4NcvqI/s1600/Eryk_leftside.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_x1vt2GUjp_I/S8RkYUnK_XI/AAAAAAAAAIU/P9OD7lWEKs8/s1600/Eryk_front.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_x1vt2GUjp_I/S8RkYFcUFII/AAAAAAAAAIM/GwwjE_pvpeY/s1600/Eryk_closeup.jpg His Saga: The Space Wolves have never been ones to stick close to the codex, and many believe that the old wolf fiercely guards secrets about the exact size of his chapter. Even within the fangs walls hushed voices talk of great companies active outside of the core twelve Wolf Lords. The great company nicknamed the Night Wolves is a case in point. The Night Wolves origination is shrouded in enigmatic and venerable tales, loosely describing a sacred oath and a gathering of the chapters fabled hunters and trackers milenia ago. More talk of the burning vengeance of Russ and that not one of his enemies will escape the jaws of the wolf. When the wolfs honor has been dealt a blow and their folly escaped, it is believed they are marked by the white wolf. An unrelenting hunter of the dream world who hungers for vengeance and will harry its foe into the abyss itself. The white wolf is a patient, silent and determined hunter, traits Wolf Lords of the Night Wolves always hold . For they track the most elusive and vile of foes, striking deep in their lair ready to extract the debt owed in blood to the chapter. Eryk Dawnchaser was always destined for greatness, quickly tempering the beast within to harness its cunning and thirst for the hunt. The charismatic and cunning wolf guard was not one to give up the chase, harassing and pursuing until the enemy was utterly destroyed. Earning his recognition in pursuit of a riotous speed freak ork warband who had escaped the jaws of the wolf. Eryks pack chased the warband for months across the barren desert planes, until in a deep and narrow valley he caught up with them. Swarming in between the ramshackle truks and rocks, he planted multiple melta bombs on the warlords prize battle wagon. Sustaining several wounds from ork fire, he held consciousness just long enough to see the ork vehicle explode and light up the night. The explosion painted a fake dawn, thus earning Eryk the name Dawnchaser and a place in the companies elite. It was this dogged determination combined with razor sharp cunning that ensured Eryk joined the ranks of the Night Wolves. But, you will undoubtedly have a much superior paint job. Actually we are using different heads. Levitas
Thanks for the positive feedback brothers. Will spur me on to get the rest done and keep my painting vow. Token: The white is pretty staright forward, base coat codex grey and then wet brushed up with gradualy lighter shades of codex grey and white. Then a final wash of badab black to take off the 'ting!' of the white. Lord Ragnarok: I know, great minds ey! It's my fave of the five poses so went to the WL. the akratic
Nice job on the paint. I especially like the long handled sword you've modeled up for him. But, not to take away from the paint job, am i the only one who thinks Dandy's wolves look way too much like Falkor from neverending story? I'm sorry but I'm not a fan of Dandy's wolves at all. No cuddly wolves for me, thanks. http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t220/benjaminsmeets/my_falkor_and_me.jpg Again, I really like the paint-job. The wolf Lord himself looks like he wants to rip your face off, if only he could get his damn mount to stop rolling in the grass wagging his tail and frolicking around. Levitas
Akratic: That made me laugh a lot, thanks man! And i totally see where your coming from. Until GW actually bothers to make some we are left to our own creative endeavors with these puppies. But saying that, the Canis model itself has a disney quality to it, so who knows if even GW will get them right? I believe blood angels are in a similar boat with the stormraven, forging all kinds of un-godly combinations of land raider and valk..and in one creatives instance a GI Joe stealth bomber. I swear GW is laughing at us. I am happy that they are at least wolves, are a good size and quality. There are a few good options out there now, just picking the one that suits style and wallet. Hopefully this particular wolf lord will have a never ending saga on his fluffy wolf Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/198169-wolf-lord-on-thunderwolf-painted/#findComment-2361806 Share on other sites
Emperor's Instrument
Levitas was there anything major you had to do with the left arm/hand to have it holding the reins? Lord Ragnarok
I think you are right max. For mine I used the right bolter arm/hand to hold the reigns on 2 of my models. Levitas
Ah the hand. I decided from the go that i didnt want both hands wielding weapons, but didnt want to extensively model and greenstuff. So i used gunner arms from the gunners on tanks, they turn in nicely and all is needed is a chop at the wrist and re-position as desired. I also cut away some of the handle and painted it brown. He is not holding the reign at all but appears to be at a passing glance. Works for me! evilbeetles
Very nice! The face work on the lord is really awesome and the wolf's face has a lot of character. I also like the fact that you used alot of silvers on the model instead of the usual gold/bronze. Well done, sir! KiltedMarine
Beautiful work, man. I'm personally not a fan of the topknot heads, but you've made this one look good. I swear GW is laughing at us. not too sure about that if they had figures out all these $95 dollars that Mr dandy has been raking in would GW's sounds bad business to me. Now alot of us will have already got squads by the time they finally release a miniature and therefore have less need and less cash to buy theirs.
