turelhim vampire
Good evening everyone, it's been a while since I posted on here, so I thought I might put up some pictures of my latest conversion. I always like the dynamic pose of this photo... http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa117/turelhimvampire/Salamanders/Skorge.jpg ...and thought it would really look good on a space marine. Well I was given a second Ironclad Dreadnought kit as a birthday gift last year and happened to have it close by when playing Gears of War 2 again. When the scene in the photo came along I looked at the dreadnought kit and realised I had to try and do something similar with it. I also decided I needed to make the dreadnought itself different to the norm, not just the pose, and - inspired by Forgeworld dreadnought designs - thought I'd try to give it an Imperial Aquila motif across the sarcophagus. Please note the motif isn't even half finished yet, so there's a lot of work to do on it. This is the result so far: http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa117/turelhimvampire/Salamanders/SANY0560.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa117/turelhimvampire/Salamanders/SANY0559.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa117/turelhimvampire/Salamanders/SANY0558.jpg Comments and critique are most appreciated. FenrisWolf
Awesome job! Will you be making fingers for the hand holding the staff? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/198244-salamanders-ironclad/#findComment-2364175 Share on other sites
Retributis
I think the eagle on the front is far too thick/rounded. It would've looked better if you'd left it as just plasticard I think. IcemanAAO
awesome work brother! i do agree with Retributis though, i think it would look even cooler if you left it plasticard, that way you could put some rivvets on it and some binding, make it look like a massive piece of Adamantium plate! keep up the good work though brother! itll be ace when its done! turelhim vampire
Cheers all, I don't think I've made a single other model that has divided peoples opinions so much. ;) @FenrisWolf - yeah I'll be adding fingers to the glaive arm, just not sure exactly how I want to pose them yet. But I fully intend to add them. @Retributis - the chest eagle has a long way to go, but I wanted something to emphasize the AV13 on him, and make him look intimidating. I'll square it off with some grey stuff (which holds a straight edge better than green stuff) and there is a lot more to add to it before I will be happy with it, so we'll see how it turns out I guess. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/198244-salamanders-ironclad/#findComment-2373967 Share on other sites

Wolf Priest Haelaeif
Doesn't work for me, sorry. The pose from the picture is very cool, but I think it is not suited to a model as clumsy as a Dreadnought. Dynamism, athletic pose and all - that just doesn't fit a Dreadnought. A Dreadnought is basically the epitome of slow and steady, not of blade-dancing. Good conversion work, but I do think it will not end up looking too good. To me, it looks like he was just shot, almost fell, and is only getting up again, slowly right now. Maybe you could try that pose with a marine, there was quite a cool Dark Angel assault marine on CMON a while ago, that was in a roughly similar pose. The kneeling legs from the devastator sprue are a good start.
