ive been putting this off for long enough.. and with the new shiny codex i decided what the hell.. ill throw my lot in and do a blood angel army.. the army list itself is over in the blood angel forum..

 

now despite not being in my final army.. i thought that seeing as i was doing a 3rd company force i might as well have some form of tycho around (hes actually captain machiavi.. but tychos rules and general look appeal to me)

hes clearly unfinished.. but i like the way the armour has turned out so far.

this is the 1st actual marine in the army.. hes a fair way from being finished but without doing something like this topic, theres no way im gonna get through the whole army in a decent time frame.. im too easily distracted. :pinch:

I really like your Tycho counts as, especially the head, is the hair sculpted?

the hair is indeed sculpted.. the head itself is from the sanguinary guard sprue with the bowl cut shaved off.

 

and unfortunatly the camera i am using has been thieved from my girlfriend until i can find where mine has gone.. and isnt exactly brilliant.. (the word sucktastic springs to mind.)

update time.. ive been poking about with the list for the army for a while now and it just didnt feel "right"

decided that the reason for this was the utter lack of the things that originally interested me in the blood angels all those years ago.. death company and chaplains! now both things are being put into the list.. and to prove it heres some progress.

the death company guy is a simple mash up of bits and hobby knife fun, the chaplain is a bit more converted but generally lacks the large amounts of green stuff i tend to end up using.

 

im quite pleased with how savage the death company dudes face looks.. not sure if i like the extreme highlights or not yet.. opinions on them would be appreciated..

Hey if you are interested in the old school models for death company, they still sell the old ones on the Gamesworkshop site, and it's only 13.50 for five, and i'm pretty sure it's not that hard to buy some jump packs either. I personally like the old models better. So, 27 for 10 or 33 for 5.... then again the 33 dollar box comes with a lot of extra stuff i'm sure. Just pointing it out

The death company marine and chaplain look fantastic so far. I think the extreme highlights look pretty good so far. Are you going to leave the chaplain's wings black? They look very striking in black.

the hair is just sculpted from green stuff.. its pretty simple really.

 

i think im going to paint the chaplains wings white, but with bits of red too similar to a piece of work i think mark gibbons did.

What did you use to make him? looks like lower half of the GW JP chap, sang guard torso/arm, a chaos helm. where's the crozius from, libby force staff?

yeah its parts of the death company thunderhammer chopped up and the end of the terminator librarians force staff. made for a suitably large beat stick, the rest of the parts are what you've listed, with minor cutting and greenstuffing done to the torso.

Very nice work.

 

The Tycho proxy looks fantastic and I'm loving the chaplain. I'm a little undecided about the extreme highlights on the black but the more I look at it the more I like it.

im still really divided on the black and so was messing about with another chaplain build in case i dont like the jump pack variety.. have used the same crozius and head as i really like them both.

used a different method to highlight the chest of the model.. not sure which i prefer still so any critique or methods would be appreciated..

 

for now im going to try and get some stock troops done and worry about the black later.

SO the helmet's on you chaplin are chaos But what chaos? CSM or butchered down Khorne? Since I dig them alot and I love your JP chappie would steal the Idea But have no need for a JP chappie since my DC will be Ground pounding when not in a LRC.

its off the basic chaos space marine sprues, no conversion needed.. same sprue also comes with a more "skull" like helm.. but i have always prefered that one as it looks very aggresive.

 

have also started work on a razorback, it requires a lot more doing to it before its done, but here it is none the less.

not a huge update since the 4am edit.. but progress has been made, the razorback is nearing completion, once the turn signals etc are painted up all there is to do is paint on some more battle damage and a few more squad markings etc and it should be done.

the squad going with this transport are primed and going to be painted after ive finished the reclusiarch on foot.

the chaplain is coming along nicely, and i finally decided on an arm for him that i liked (youd be suprised how long it took to figure out "bolt pistol" :) )

ive rejigged my list suitably.. and a certain member of the death company has regained his sanity and joined the ranks of the sternguard.. as a sergeant no less!

theres a pic of his underling with worse camera work and one of my sanguinary priest as he currently stands

 

ive given all my sternguard black shoulders instead of gold helms, this is because they are the 1st squad of the 3rd company and veterans in their own right.. aka i dont like gold helmets and wanted to keep everyone in my army as a part of the 3rd.

unfortunatley no as hes out of my 1500 point list now :cuss hes on my to do list though as i have 3000 points of blood angels to figure out and paint for a campaign im running at my gaming club >.<

Holy cow I friggin LOVE that JP chaplain... :lol: I already have 2 chaplains on JP but I might just have to make a 3rd. I don't play BA but darn it might just be worth buying those bits to make him, effing sweet brother.

 

Could you possibly post a few more pics of him? Would like to see a few more angles.

i managed to drop the jump pack chaplain and lose his head, and destroy his crozius.. so until i can scrounge up the bits to rebuild him (faster, stronger..) pics of him arent going to be appearing.. though when they do ill make sure to take multiple angled shots.

 

ive done more work on the sternguard however, and taken better pictures this time round..

thats 6 out of 8 of the sternguard in their various states of paint.. ive managed to forget to photograph one of them.. but hes nothing special anyway.. similar stage to the last one photographed.. the other one is the sergeant, who is further up this thread.

finally we have my sang priest.. who im unsure the white looks right on.. may have to paint him red with white details.. but we'll see how it goes. and the chaplain. who just needed a better picture. :lol:

the sternguard needed a transport.. my blood angels have been renting their rhinos from all my other armies for long enough so i decided to bite the bullet and paint up a second one, thus finalizing the fact that this army is going to be mechanized (good thing i chose the "ironhelms" i guess)
