Grey Mage
So, Ive got a game coming up next month for apocalypse. I know there will be two factions, chaos and imperial. There will be a warhound titan and a baneblade on each side. Im bringing my Space Wolves, and borrowing several extra drop pods... my FW order of Deathstorms should come in with a week to clean and assemble. Thing is, I need to shave 131pts. I have 3500pts to go with, and one strategic asset. Im using a scratchmade Datasheet called "The Spear of Russ". Im pretty set on that part. Linky: And heres the list I have so far. DPs: 440pts. Deathstorm Drop Pod- Locator Beacon- 110pts Deathstorm Drop Pod- Locator Beacon- 110pts Deathstorm Drop Pod- Locator Beacon- 110pts Deathstorm Drop Pod- Locator Beacon- 110pts HQs: 495pts. Wolf Lord- Terminator Armor, TH, SS, WTT, WTN, Warrior Born- 230pts. Rune Priest- WTT, Runic Armor- 125pts. Wolf Priest- PP, Runic Armor, WTT- 140pts. Trps: 1350pts. 10 GHs- 2x PR, PF, WT, PP, DP- 245pts. 10 GHs- 2x PR, PF, WT, PP, DP- 245pts. 10 GHs- 2x MG, PW, WT, DP- 215pts. 10 GHs- 2x MG, PW, WT, DP- 215pts. 10 GHs- 2x Flamer, PF, WT, DP- 220pts. 10 BCs- PF, Flamer, DP- 210 Elites: 986pts. Venerable Dreadnaught- AC, HF, WTT, EA, Majesty, DP- 245pts. Dreadnaught- MM, HF, WTT, EA, DP- 170pts. Dreadnaught- TLLC, ML, EA, WTT, DP- 200pts. Wolf Guard- 1x TDA, *2LC, CML, 2x TDA, PF, C-M, 2x SS, 2x FB DP- 371pts. Hvy: 360pts. 5 LFs- 2x ML, 2x LC, DP- 180pts. 5 LFs- 2x MM, 2x LC, DP- 180pts. Total: 3631pts. Im not a big fan of bringing bloodclaws, but I think I should bring them just for completeness. Its also worth noting that this is not a super-uber-kill-it-all game, this is friendly and with my gaming group. Were doing a battle from the 13nth black crusade for fun. Thoughts? Ideas? Speculations? Im also wondering on wich asset to take to help me out a bit, or if I should go with one to help out one of my allies. Speaking of wich: Im fighting along side Blood Angels and Imperial Gaurd. And the Warhound. Simo429
when you are taking so few blood claws is there any point just for completeness? my compliments that in an apocalypse game you have stayed strong and not gone for characters, i dont think id be able to help myself Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/198392-apocalypse/#findComment-2363228 Share on other sites
Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
i would drop the claws. that puts you below points. i might also drop the pods, and take the "Ancients Assault Force" Data-sheet. in my last APoc game, i used it to give my ENTIRE (11.5k) force flank march, for free, and combined with the Careful Planning asset, had my Wolves coming off of flanks and turns 1 and 2 rather than 2 and 3.... lets just say it was a good days for the Wolves. Bulweih
Hi there, the datasheet and asset proposed by Wolf Lord Kieran are good choices to go with. Assuming the IG will hold ground, while the BA force will speed forward, the wolves coming from all sides sounds good to me. If you're not too into it, cut the cheapest Dread and make the 2nd remaining a venerable, too. Or loose some(not all) BC's just to get even, because said asset and ds are really working for the wolves ;) . Hfran Morkai
*Cough* Legion Relic *Cough* Strength ten Power Weapon that doubles base number of attacks? Yes please! Though other SA's are useful I just love taking this one, just don't let the wielder die! Grey Mage
Well.... dropping the TH from my WL nets me a few points, and legion relic would more than make up for it. And Im taking this datasheet lol. Im aware of how cool the ancients assault force is.... last time we played apocalypse it was armaggeddon and I got to have fun with 7 Dreads and an Iron Priest . And no, no special characters on my side... Logan was a possibility but I actually dont have the Old Wolfs model ;)! Ullr Direfang
Hey GM, just look at your list I have a question: Where are your HQs going to go? All of your squads max out your pods. I know that dropping a few guys wont get you down to the points you need (not to mention throw off the free special weapon) but I guess I just don't "see' how you plan to run the HQs. Grey Mage
Thats why I linked to the post with the Datasheet in it.... Heres a rules synopsis: FORMATION: 1 Wolf Lord* 0-1 Wolf Priest* 0-1 Rune Priest* 3+ Deathstorm Drop Pods 2-8 Grey Hunter Packs in Drop Pods 0-2 Bloodclaw Packs in Drop Pods 0-2 Long Fangs in Drop Pods 0-3 Dreadnaughts or Venerable Dreadnaughts in Drop Pods 0-3 Wolf Guard Packs in Drop Pods.* *Note, models chosen as part of this formation may not choose Jumppacks, thunderwolf mounts, or Bikes as wargear. SPECIAL RULES: Clear the Field!: Designate one Deathstorm Drop Pod as the lead pod. Place it on the field and scatter as normal and resolve its shooting. Then place each other Deathstorm Drop Pod in the formation within 24" of the first resolving their shooting in turn. Then place each other Drop pod within 12" of a Deathstorm Drop Pod as normal. Well go back for the Ale: Independant Characters, not attached characters like Wolf Gaurd, who are part of this formation take up no space in a transport. Masters of the Assault: A Deathstorm Drop Pod equipped with a Locator Beacon that is deployed as part of this formation count as having been on the table since the start of the turn for the purposes of allowing other drop pods in the formation to deploy without scattering. Beachhead: The player who takes the Spear of Russ gains the Hold at all Costs strategic asset. This asset only applies to Space Wolf models who are part of this formation. Nowhere to Run: All units in this formation count as stubborn while within 12" of a Drop Pod that is also part of this formation. My team has allocated me 3800pts, the formation costs 300 and has been OK'd by my group to play. The IG player has 5k that hes bringing including the titan, and the BA player is going to have 2200pts. Arrayed against us is about 3k worth of daemons, 4k of world eaters, and 4k of traitor gaurd. Ullr Direfang
well having given it a look over again, i would maybe suggest going with 5 TDA WG, and put your FW/SS together on one guy. i understand it lowers the number of guys, but it will get 46 points back. other then that the only thing i can really see doing is trying to drop WTT/EA/WT/special weapons to see if you can make your points back in any way. sorry i could help more... EDITED for silly math errors Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/198392-apocalypse/#findComment-2364564 Share on other sites
