Ashe Darke Posted April 16, 2010 Share Posted April 16, 2010 How come the PDF extract says it will be £7.99 yet the BL website says £8.99? I read the extract and it was cool, much like ADB's other books. The switching of perspective was odd, past tense, to present, then past etc. It felt like the first Ravenor book. I will be getting it when it becomes available to me even though I can't say I'm a fan of BT. The behaviour of them is very interesting though and ADB talks about this in the podcast he did at Adepticon. It's worth listening to. Reveal hidden contents The brutality of the Chapter is there from the start, as it the knightly ideals. I am wondering where he got his ideas for Grimaldus' ceremony, is this researched from RL orders or is this just something ADB made up? But that whole part is very well done. The only bit that has jarred so far is Kurovs reaction after the BT have offered up there swords, and Priaus sounds a bit like Lucius. Other than that last bit, excellent so far! Just as I would have imagined them. Hope it stays the course or gets better. There is one bit so far that will be getting sigged in the next few days. Reveal hidden contents read to much to remember all the customs, some being more brutal than others. this so far at least seems more "real" than some of traditions of other Chapters. Chapter 2 and so far so good. Reveal hidden contents They seem to very much represent the character of Dorn so far. From the brutal undercurrent to the cool, marble like surface, like the fire that Grimaldus was given when told his assignment. Not going to say anything about the other Chapter characters present, I don't know enough about them to really comment, although the SW character seemed right. A bit more on the how and whys of the planning would have been a nice extra, but for some it would argue it the other way. Will comment again when I have read a couple more chapters, one at a time will take ages and I am sure others will add anything in-between. Still, that was only chapter 2 and this is the first BT novel in a long time. It has a lot to live up to given that time period where we got nothing. I wish Aaron Dembski-Dowden will write a Blood Angel novel for us... he really did the Black Templars justice in this book. I am at chapter 10, and with only one or two words that seem to have escaped the editorial process, its been an excellent read so far. One bit I found grating was Reveal hidden contents the conversation in chapter 3 with the Pricepts, I can understand doing the over lap once, but it did start to get annoying. And is the bit about Reveal hidden contents Oberon new? I have never heard of it before. The bit about its use was also well done, I can see any member of the BT acting in the same way.The last part of Chapter 9 where the fighters launch, I was wondering way the BT didn't send in their Thunder Hawks, if they were gun ships, they would have given the Ork Titans a real head ache. Had a few other :blink: moments, that had me wondering, but some of which was later answered, others had me thinking for a while. Will however remark on the Master of the Forge. Are we going to get one in the next codex, or is this a Master Artificer? Saving most of my questions till I finish the book. @ Julius Firefocht: There is loads written about the BA, this is the 3rd BT novel (2 of which are long out of print), and hoping for more. The bit to which you're referring to isn't new, Reveal hidden contents there is actually an Epic model of it. ADB is just including some cool albeit oldish and obscure stuff.
