igotsmeakabob!!
How do you guys use a flame template with these? Don't on't you loose much of the effectiveness due to the template overlapping the hull? I think that would reduce range to an unusable distance. Do you do sideways drive bys to get around this? I love the idea of the flamerback, but have no idea how to use one in game. Considering that most people agree that a flamer template can touch the hull of the vehicle if it's firing from on top of the vehicle (aka not sponsons), there's no trouble. Xaraon
Sorry if this is somewhat off topic, but the vanilla marines get the TL Heavy Flamer for 25 points and thinking about it I'll only be able to fire it once or twice before being smoked by grenades or other anti-tank weapons making it seem like a waste of 75 points for the my marines. (I mostly fight Orks, Nids, and Wolves .) (I mostly fight Orks, Nids, and Wolves :o.) That's the reason why we're saying it's now a viable option for us. It's a free upgrade, and when you factor in that our fast Razorbacks can move 12" and then fire it... well, it works for us. For vanilla armies, you're probably better off paying 10 more points for the assault cannon, or keeping the heavy bolter. Xaraon
Good point, but then again I didn't think about cruising while popping smoke and next turn torching the enemy units while running them over. SamaNagol
I've taken to putting my Death Company in one. Drive 18" and pop smoke. Disembark next turn and move towards target, then move the Razorback 12" and cook something. Can't say no when they are free. Jaarl Stormfang
What about tank shocking 12" to bunch them up then flaming to the side? I never use tank shock so I'm not sure is that viable? SamaNagol
I used to do it all the time with my Land Raiders and Grey Knights with 2 Incinerators. It's looooovely. Captain Psycho
@biglou666 and @jawaballs: can you please post some pics of your LRC flamestorm conversions? I'm thinking of picking up the conversion pack to use the AssCan turret on my RAS Razorback and the flamestorms for a converted TLHF turret for my DC Razorback. How hard was it to convert? @Red Fury: what do you mean by "1. the agreed correct position is in the rear"? I was thinking I would reverse the RB plate as well to center the TLHF slightly increase range without exposing rear armor. Moving the weapon system on a razor honestly doesn't make much of a difference, but consider a LR crusader/redeemer with the TL ass cannons mounted on the very top of the hull to get a 360 view on the battlefield and you can see how this can be abused. -Fury Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/198447-heavy-flamer-razorbacks/page/3/#findComment-2403422 Share on other sites
SamaNagol
That would also reduce their range by about 3 inches. It is no different to mounting the sponsons on a Land Raider on the front or rear setting. They do not have rulings for weapon placement anymore.
