Khorne Juggernauts as Thunderwolve mounts

Hi everyone.

It's a matter of personal opinion, but i really don't like the idea of riding fleshy non-armored wolves into battle in the 41st millenium. I know this has been talked about a lot, but that's not the point.

I would like to convert BloodCrushers into Wolf Lords riding Mechanical Thunderwolves. Obviously, the only part I'd use is the Jugger that they ride. I'm thinking with some wolfy bits, and maybe some claws instead of hooves. Something like this:

Only probably not as cool, since i'm not that awesome. . .

What I'd like to know is how hard it would be to get space marine legs to fit around the Jugger, and how hard is it to remove the bloodletter from it?

Anyone have any experience with the kit?

Yes!

That's exactly what i wanted! Can you give me some more details on how you actually attached the marine to the jugger? Also, was it tricky to get rid of the chaos iconography, or was it just a matter of not glueing the spiky bits on?

I first built the juggernaut by itself and trimmed off the spikey bits I didn't want. Then I played around with fitting the SM legs over it. I ended up repositioning the lower leg on one side to get a good fit. After that I glued the torso on and then the body to the mount. Then glued on the lower leg once it was already on the mount. Remember to magnetize the arm holes before attaching to the mount, it will make it easier. The last thing was to add some wolfy bits and base it. Hope this helps.

I just started working on my own.

Steps were:

  • File off all the Chaos Icons (one each on the front leg armour and one on one of the back legs. There is also a Khorne symbol on the hoof that is raised)
  • Glue legs on (front right and back right)
  • Add wolf bits that you want
  • Green stuff in some fur

Pretty happy with the results so far:

The paper clip will become a tail as the Juggernauts tail is extremely short.

For the rider, I cut both legs away from the crotch piece and then just super glued them to the saddle that comes with the Juggernaut. A tiny bit of green stuff fills in the gap (which was only a couple of millimetres). I've pinned the rider and not glued it at the moment to make the green stuffing and painting easier. Magnets in the right shoulder and left wrist allow for different weapons.

This is where I am up to atm:

Only problem with the jugger conversions is you need to lose the hooves.

Indeed, I'll be green stuffing some claws over the hooves when I get down there. Plan on greenstuffing most of the fur, then laying the base down then doing the claws.

Very cool.

Thanks for all the input. It's been very helpful so far!

I'm gonna go for this guy:

The rest of my army is all 2nd edition, so this guy's old school styles will fit right in. lol

Plus i kinda like the static pose. I can have him on an elevated base with a pointing finger.

I've used the old jugger also in my conversion. It's far from finished but I'll post my WIP for you to see how I'm converting it.

Very nice winternight, very nice indeed and what i am going to go for as well.

Inspired by the third picture down i presume?

Yep ;)

I have a bunch of other Thunderwolves that I made up from Dire Wolves, but I wanted something big and meaty for my Wolf Lord. Used him for the first time last night and he did well!

Still not finished with these and I have another 3 that have been base coated

For me this is the best way to achieve this cavalry..the wolves GW or other companies sell for this purpose dont fit my idea of these huge wolves... I was thinking about horses..but marines + horses..dont fit me neither...So If I decide to make myself one of these thunder wolves I´ll use juggies
