Vulkan He'stan WIP

Ok so I didn't much like the actual Vulkan He'stan model and I've had the idea bouncing around in my head for a while so here is my take on the Salamanders character so far:

The model is still WIP, I'm going to add some power cables to the Spear of Vulkan and perhaps add a little more variety in the cloak's scales and try to clean up the edges some but otherwise its mostly finished, what do you guys think?

I wish I could be more helpful but since I don't know much about Salamander fluff. But in terms of a leader, especially one as epic as He'stan, he just doesn't do it for me. He just looks too generic, maybe a Vanguard without a jump pack since he has two special weapons, but his helmet, pose, torso are just too generic.

If the legs were repositioned to make him look taller and walking forward, that would be very triumphant. To accentuate that I would reposition the power fist so that it's swaying, but the polearm would be fine, sort of used as a walking stick. Maybe some kind of ornament for his helmet, for some reason I really feel like a Roman Crest would look amazing with this guy, assuming the colors used for the crest matched Salamander armor.

Well actually the model is based off the artwork in the Codex, artwork I like far better than the GW He'stan. The artwork is also not very ostentatious, in fact most of the armor detailing I've done in GS is flat in the artwork indicating such detail should probably have been painted on to be more accurate. The torso is covered in the artwork but didn't look anymore ornamental than a MK IV torso but since I didn't have one available or readily to hand I made do. Overall though while somewhat simplistic I much prefere that to the overboard busyness of the GW model. The leg details I added after feeling the model didn't have enough but now I like the level of ornamentation, I'm still doing work on the cloak to make the edges more tattered and add a little more variety to the scales but otherwise I don't think I'll be adding anymore "bling" to the armor.

Its always good to leave some room for painted detail and in general I prefere not to go overboard, I like cool looking characters but they still need to look functional and deadly in my opinion, not like Sicarius who looks like he's standing on a parade ground or He'stan who looks like he's going to topple over under the weight of all of his ornamentation.
