Increasing the Company

Hey all, I've been looking at my army and have been wondering what it would be in need of. Any input would be good. Currently I have:

A Wolf Lord

A WGBL

Ulrik

Rune Priest

10 man Wolf Guard Pack (made to be broken up into pack leaders)

A venerable dread with Assault Cannon, HF, and upgrades

5 Man Grey hunter Pack

10 Man Grey Hunter pack with 2 Melta guns

2 15 Man Blood Claw Packs with Power Fist

Razorback with TLHB/ Rhino

5 Man Sky Claw Pack

Predator Annihilator

Land Raider Crusader

Now my question is, what would be a better avenue to take? Right now what I am personally looking at are:

5 Man Terminator squad tailored for fire fights (Storm Bolters and an Assault Cannon)

Land Speeder with Multi Melta

Drop Pod

Grey Hunters with 2 Plasma Guns and a Plasma Pistol

Rhino

Having seen my disposition and ideas, does any one have any opinions of what would be better?

I'd go for a Drop pod or more Sky Claws if you can squeeze them in points wise. More bodies are always a good idea, as you will last longer in CC.

As far as the rest of your list, I can't say you'd go wrong with the combo of the DP and the GH's with the plasma loadout. If you save up and can afford it, that's 5 plasma shots, assuming no overheats, plus rapidfire bolters. Not sure if a Wolf Standard will let you reroll ones on ranged or not, but might be worth it as well.

What are you doing with the other 5 or so WG you have in your army currently? You listed 10 but I wager it may be loadout differences rather than termy and non-termy.

My Wolf Guard are kited out like this: 4 Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon, 1 Plasma Pistol and Close Combat Weapon, 1 Twin Wolf Claws, 1 Twin Power Fist, 1 Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield, 1 Bolt pistol, Close Combat Weapon and MotW.

The Twin Power Fist and Wolf Claws each get put into one of my Blood Claw Packs

The TH & SS Leads the Melta Hunters

The Storm Bolter joins the 5 man Blood Claw Pack, usually with the Razorback

The Pistols and CCW ones I use as a guard for my Wolf Lord

++Edited to Clarify there are 2 Blood Claw Packs, so the two Wolf guard are in SEPARATE packs++

Not trying to be a downer but I would check the codex for how many WG may join one single unit in the codex. It may be two or more, but I could swear I saw it saying only one.

Otherwise, nice groups, not what I use but I can see them working in quite a few situations.

As to my suggestion, what did you think?

Your plan looks good, rather funny I caught that without knowing it. Two such drop pods coming in would make for a nasty, "From Fenris with Love" kind of greeting, that's for sure. And the meltagun with the Skyclaws can be used on troops just as easily, without overheats, which is good.

I'd add in more Land Raiders. A Redeemer and two Standard patterns, to be specific. I'd also look at grabbing 2-3 Vindicators. Probably the Vindicators before the Land Raiders, as they're easier to fit in a standard army.

Str 10 pie plate lovin'... there isn't any substitute...

My Wolf Guard are kited out like this: 4 Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon, 1 Plasma Pistol and Close Combat Weapon, 1 Twin Wolf Claws, 1 Twin Power Fist, 1 Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield, 1 Bolt pistol, Close Combat Weapon and MotW.

The Twin Power Fist and Wolf Claw I attach to the Blood Claws, unless a Wolf Priest is there

Gyson, each pack can only get assigned a single Wolf Guard Leader.

To the OP, I'd recommend a Wolf Scout Pack and a Long Fangs Pack. Adding these two units will add a lot of capability to your list options.
