Warrior Born! tell your tales.

This was an idea i snagged from our Brothers the Blood Angels. They have a thread based on how many models their dreds have killed. So Sons of Russ Regale me with tales on how many models your hammer has slain.

Thunderwolf Lord: thunderwolf mount, belt of russ, necklace, frost axe, warrior born.

Today my Thunderwolf Lord killed:

Gabriel Seth

4 sanguanary guard

2 sanguanary priests

5 tactical assault troops (one unit)

He was with a unit of thunderwolf cavalry. he did his killings first in each combat and won them all. if anything the twc were there for extra wounds.

At a tournament in Dec, in the 2nd to final round. (i was undefeated) My WL on TW, with a typical TWC unit got charged by deathcompany and meph. Round 1. Deatch company killed all TWC but 1, Wolf lord killed 4 of them. Round 2, final TWC dies, Wolf lord kills 8 more. Round 3. WL kills meph, meph. Round 4. WL kills chaplin. Total kill of 12 death company, chaplin and meph. 0 wounds. Beast.

I had an opponent who was making sick tervigon rolls. Just a factory. I was running a Thunderlord with a frost blade and as durable as I could make him - runic armor, stormshield, etcetera.

Anyways, he was getting super lucky with his rolls and had a ton of free termagants to hold objectives. I guess he was feeling he had enough guys because of it, so to slow me down, he kept throwing his other swarmy guys (horms, gargoyles) at the lord to slow him down - just keep my army locked in assault so I couldn't get to his objectives.

I got lucky and didn't take any wounds when he assaulted ... and just kept killing things. It got to the point where he ran out of his point purchased swarms (due to the assault and some other fighting elsewhere on the board), and just had his tervigon produced swarm (albeit very large at this point). Two more lucky things happened: We went to max turn length, and I made it out of an assault on his turn. So what'd I do? I charged the tervigons.

I had so many attacks built up from the squads he was throwing at me , that killing the MC was easy... After that, well... I've never seen so many models removed from the table in a single turn. Killing the tervigons actually tabled him.

I think I need to build a new Wolf Lord. Whilst bikes are good, jump packs are better.

Wolf Lord, frost blade, belt of Russ, jump pack, Saga of the Warrior Born, wolf tooth necklace, meltabombs. 225 points.

A thunderwolf would make him more powerful, 6 strength 6 attacks should rack up a lot of kills, but Marines riding wolves is still a lame idea.

Oh I agree that it's not the most....sublime idea to hit the market, but for a handful more points you get an upgraded Toughness, Strength, Attack, and a 19-24" (19" here because on a fleet you'll never roll a zero) threat range. Lame as it may be, it's crushing.

I've never had a really obscene number like some here, but last tournament my lord took a charge from berzerkers and after mopping them up on my opponents turn followed through to another two chaos marine squads and ended by squashing another berzerker squad containing my opponents lord.

Roughly 40 something kills in 3 game turns.

I would submit that not only are marines riding Wolves awesome, they are really the exemplary image of what 40k is. The pure hardcore awesome of the Space Marine mixed with an element of ridiculousness that is the wolf highlights all the elements that makes 40k.

I don't know what else to say - Though when I did get into 40k last year, I didn't do it because it was like Halo or Gears of War.
