Custom Chapter WIPs

Howdy all, the WIP blogs looked like fun and I figured I'd fire up one myself. I'm a new 40k player who used to play Fantasy back in the early 1990s, long before I had the motor skills to do the models any justice. I started up with a friend and split the Assault on Black Reach box, and have since bought a few more models.

 

The chapter name is "Sorrow's End" and the chapter symbol is a black tear with a few little red dots in it. As far as a little background, it was a city liberation force (hence the chapter name) that was mobilized to deal with the Tau threat in the Charadon Sector. The chapter specializes in Drop Pods, which were used to slam down in tactical points throughout an occupied city. Because most of their work was done inside buildings, the chapter uses very few large units apart from the Drop Pods, and has only managed to convert towards fighting the Tau by equipping marines with meltaguns and the like.

 

Anyways without further adieu here are some of my first models. Some of them are still WIPs, but I thought I'd get up pics of what I have so far. Camera is generally the Droid phone, so quality isn't the best.

 

Here are the first 3 tactical marines that I painted up. At first I didn't have the basing materials, so that's why a lot of these are lacking bases in this pictures.

Here's the Dreadnought that came in the Black Reach set. I generally plan on naming models after Latin words for "sorrow" and "grief," so this is Brother Grieve.

First teminator here... you can finally see where I got up the guts to paint the chapter symbol on a shoulder pad, haha.

Anyways that's what I'm working with so far! I'll update in a month or so when the various units are completed. Hopefully I'll get my hands on a Drop Pod or two as well. So thanks for checking all my pics out :huh:

They look good man. Though they do seem to look a bit like many peoples "I dont like bright blue power armour" space wolves.

Actually... they look very similar to my custom chapter idea, the Dark Legionnaires:

hey nice chapter... we have allmost the exact same paint scheme! your grey is a bit bluer and darker then mine, what are you using?

It's actually the foundation color Hormagaunt Purple, haha. I love that it only takes one coat to completely cover the primer.
