At 3000 points, what would you be sure to take?

At 3000pts? I would take the following for certain;

- LRC - 15 Claws with P.Fist and Attached WP

- Vindicator

- 6 LFs, 2x P.Cannon, 3x Missile

Could also grab a pack of PA WG with P.Weaps / W.Claws / S.Shields, in a Redeemer. Expensive, but a very nasty shock unit, specially if you throw in Ragnar as well. A bunch of S5 / I5 P.Weap attacks will cause a world of hurt, and don't forget the Redeemer's AP3 flamers.

Other then that, max out tooled GH squads in Rhinos, use a turn 3 dump/move/shoot/assault instead of dumping turn 2 and weathering those AP3 bolters. On that note, i would advise against plasmas... you can't use them while in the rhinos unless your only moving 6", and once you dump you want to be assaulting so they won't get to shoot then either.

I'd use turn 1 & 2 to get right up in his face with the Rhinos, then t3 dump in his face, B.Pistols and meltas / flamers to soften up a little, then assault with MotW and a P.Weap/P.Fist. Also look at taking WG Pack Leaders on all squads to max out possible P.Weap attacks, maybe even use W.Claws on them if you have the points to burn.

And of course t2 the LRC and LRR packs can dump into some units to keep them clear of the GH fights.

Scouts with a Pack Leader or "Hunter" Battle Leader are also a good choice, pack in motw, and as much P.Weap goodness as you can and tie up the units on their flanks.

Hmm, if you wanted to be really mean (and had the models, which is highly unlikely) there is a way to get 145 bodies into 3000 including Ragnar, 4 Wolf Priests (1 PP+MB, 1 MB, 1 PP, all with WTN and WTT), 4 packs of 10 Grey Hunters with 2 Plasma Guns, 4 packs of 10 Grey Hunters with 2 Meltaguns, 2 packs of 15 blood claws with 2 meltaguns and a power weapon and 2 packs of 15 blood claws with 2 melta guns and a power fist.

That would be harsh, even if you don't have any long range, you have enough bodies to get enough meltaguns and plasma guns into the right ranges, all the while possessing masses of attacks to take out the pesky thousand sons and plague marines in combat if you want.

So ive posted my potential list Here!

Basic tactics:

I'll place one Objective in a corner, and place the full TLLC Razorback and 1 squad of Long Fangs on it. I'll put my other objective in the middle of the board, and camp it with the las/plas Razorback (full) and the other long Fangs.

With the Wolf guard, the 2 MotW will join the scout Squads. The Cyclone Missile Launcher will join a Long Fangs Squad. The last power armored WG will join the 5 man Grey Hunters in the stock Razorback. This leaves 4 TDA in each drop pod, which will be joined by a Rune Priest. I'll bring both these squad on first turn, around where the Vindi is. I'll use them to try and destroy what i can, but mostly to hold the line untill the Grey Hunters can get up the table. I'll bring the 3rd drop pod down at a later stage, empty, to try and deny an objective.

I'll walk Bjorn, the Ven Dread and the Iron Priest across the table, towards one flank. I'll also make that area the main target of my long range weapons.

I'll Drive the rest of the Grey Hunters up the other flank, and with a bit of luck they can meet up in the middle :D

Would love some feedback on this!
