Mass Chapters

Right As my sig says, I have a few space wolves... it has always been my chapter tho (a secret space wolves succcesser)

But I can never get motivated to paint so me and my mate thought of this-

Basically because my chapter is small in fluff, it has units from the space wolf chapter as support, but what about if it became known, would other chapters support it?

I was thinking adding squads like, a ultramarine tactical squad (grey hunters), black templers (blood claw squad), blood angels squads (assualt maines)

basically having a few big chapters supply a squad to the army? or what about I change my fluff, and mine is a inquistion force, which takes 1 or 2 squads from different chapters to fight?

Thanks in advance fellow wolves!

BTW I WILL ONLY BE USING SPACE WOLVES CODEX! and maybe allies (DH, WH) this way I dont break any rules (:

yes it is meant to

I could do it so the INQ calls upon each chapter to give a squad to the INQ to aid the grey knights vs deamons?

And if the next INQ codexs come out and no allies, I can use grey knights as frost bladed armed wolf guard and inq as a battle leader of something!

If I had to build a new Space Marine army, it would certainly be a crusading force with two to three different chapters. I still would take them from all the same codex for legality purposes, but I see no problem in friendly games as long as your opponent knows what you are fielding.

First of all there is precedent and second it relieves the boredom of painting the same colour.

Its a good idea and if done well can look quite good. I've seen armies with squads from different chapters in the past, you have to make sure that you have some unifying theme though otherwise it ends up looking like an army collected together from leftovers and spare parts. The bases are a good way to do this, but marines often carry a campaign badge on their leg armour to mark that they're currently fighting in a particular operation.

Personally I'd suggest that the Space Wolf codex isn't the best codex to use for this, otherwise you end up with strange things like the Blood Angels assault squad only being WS3, Ultramarines with curiously high number of attacks in close combat and so on. If you really don't have many Space Wolves it might just be easier to use the regular codex. Also remember that the allies rules in the Deamonhunters codex allow you to have a squad or two of real Grey Knights in your army, and an inquisitor if you want one.

Just a point of fluff contention, there are no Space Wolves successors, its just not possible, Space Wolves cannot recruit anywhere but Fenris and two Chapters cannot share the same homeworld. The Wolf Brothers were the only attempt to create a successor and it failed, since then there have been none. Lost Companies are all well and good but not successor Chapters.
