the akratic
I noticed the grey hunters entry in your codex states, in regards to our weapon options, that: "If the squad numbers ten models, a secnd grey hunter may replace his bolter with a weapon from the above list at no additional cost." Does this mean then, that a group of 9 grey hunters joined by a wolf guard still gets the 'free' second weapon? Compare this to the wording for wolf guard and their terminator heavy weapons: "For every five models in the squad, one wolf guard model in terminator armor may chose one of the following." So, are there free special weapons for those 9 GH + WG squads? They do number ten models. What about a similar squad of 9 GH with an IC? If this has been asnwered somewhere before, please provide a linky! Thanks! Does this mean then, that a group of 9 grey hunters joined by a wolf guard still gets the 'free' second weapon? No. Regrettably, it does not (see the FAQ sticky for specifics). The gist of it, however, is that the squad has to number 10 models BEFORE the beginning of the game, but you add the Wolf Guard during the game (the deployment phase, is it?). Hence, you have to "count" the squad (and find 9 models, thus removing the option for the second weapon) before you can add the Wolf Guard, which would bring it up to 10. -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/199405-if-the-squad-numbers-ten-models/#findComment-2375197 Share on other sites
Whitefireinferno
"if the squad numbers blah blah" means for example 10 grey hunters not 9 and attatching something else and the WG means 1 special weapon at 5 guys then a 2nd at 10 guys and so on and so forth. *ninja'd* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/199405-if-the-squad-numbers-ten-models/#findComment-2375198 Share on other sites
stinkenheim
check the GW FAQ found in the GW site Q. Can a Grey Hunter unit that consists of nine Grey Hunters and a Wolf Guard Pack Leader take a second special weapon? A. No, as the unit is not comprised of ten models until just before the battle starts, at which point it is far too late to be tinkering with your army list. This provides players who wish to mount their Grey Hunters in a Rhino or Drop Pod with a difficult tactical choice – extra special weapon or Wolf Guard pack leader?
