Somar
hello all, just wanted to share something with you all. since GW does not make inks anymore (just their weak washes) i have been looking for alternatives. at a local craft store i found a set of calligraphy inks. (company name is winsor&newton) $40 US for a set of 6, black, brown, blue, green, red and gold. they are nice and strong, a couple of drops thinned down go a long way and the pots are quite big. i used them to wash 2 units of plague marines and they came out very nice. (at least i think so) http://i837.photobucket.com/albums/zz298/dirkspair/misc%20stuff/PM005.jpg http://i837.photobucket.com/albums/zz298/dirkspair/misc%20stuff/PM006.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/199409-trying-new-inks-with-beforeafter-shots/ Share on other sites
Asrech
I agree mate, they look good! When I heard that the inks were going to be discontinued I went right to the store and bought pretty much all they had of flesh wash, and a whole bunch of black/blue/red and purple ink. Still have 1-2 unused flesh washes ( thank the emperor, I love those inks! ). Where in florida is this store located? Cheers! Asrech
Ah gotcha! Thought it was more of a private store ( Uncle Johns arts and crafts ). Will have to remember to check for these next time I'm close to one. Cheers! Brother_Kaelgrim
I believe Coat D Armes makes all the old school GW paints and inks, you could try that. Debris
I just picked up some Daler-Rowney acrylic inks, which were delivered yesterday. They are basically acrylic pigments that can be thinned easily, and are waterproof when they dry. They come in 1oz bottles which have a built in dropper top. I made up a wash and put a coat on my new Deathwing termie and it came out great. I'll post some pics as soon as I finish. The best thing is that these are less than 3.00 per bottle when you buy 3 or more at DickBlick.com. It also looks like they are running a buy 2 get one free promo at this time.
