JamesI's Angels Vermillion
June Update 1

With this update I declare my vow complete.

Two pictures of my final unit, the Baal Predator (now rearmed to be assault cannon/heavy bolter after I decided I liked that version better than the flamestorm version)

Now, I would like to expand my vow to include a Vindicator. It is primed and ready to paint.

Update Four!

Now that my Master of the Forge is all done, I can move on to my new Venerable Dread kit. Huzzah!

This is a really awesome kit. Lots of gubbins, bits, and options. However, most of the decorative bitz are too large to fit confortably on the flat areas of the Dread!

Here are the assembled parts I'll be working with:

http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z43/goalie20/Warhammer%2040K/vendread01.jpg

I went for a closed-sarco look. I just don't like my Dreads to have humanoid parts showing. Kinda defeats the purpose of being entombed in an adamantium box, ya know?

I selected a lot of sword and shield imagery for this one. My backstory is that he's a veteran of the Tyranid Wars.

JUNE - UPDATE 7

Well... the Ironclad Dreadnought I was working on is not progressing to my liking. I have a love/hate relationship with it - sometimes I like it, other times I just wonder why I bothered with the pose. As such I am getting frustrated with the model, so checked with the Admin staff here and I have been allowed to substitute another WIP Ironclad Dreadnought for it - some of you will remember this guy from when I first converted him. Well, he was basecoated black for a game way back when and then forgotten about. Well today that changed. I have done most of the green, washed him and highlighted the edges, and now have started on the hazard stripes and the sarcophagus front. See what you think so far:

June update 1

Well its not much of an update. I haven't really progressed with the tanks like i wanted to, but they will be done by the end of the month. Class and real life has just gotten in the way..that and getting distracted by a conversion contest and getting about 6 other tanks built up to the same level as these 3 and assembling the rest of the army.

Tahaal's Blood Angels
June, Update #1

Going on vacation and wanted to post before hand. This was all technically done in late May, but it's my first June update. The first two were taken with my old phone cause my camera was gone. Sorry about the quality (they are just red though; not missing much):
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r313/tahaal/WiP/Mephiston/05222009.jpg
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r313/tahaal/WiP/Mephiston/05222010.jpg

Here he is with red, black, and brown done:
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r313/tahaal/WiP/Mephiston/DSCN2270.jpg
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r313/tahaal/WiP/Mephiston/DSCN2271.jpg
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r313/tahaal/WiP/Mephiston/DSCN2272.jpg

The battle-plan for this guy was to paint his armor blood red, with his cloak and war-kilt, as it shall henceforth be known as, mechrite red. The foundation paint went over all the red parts, and then two light layers of blood red and a drybrush of blood red/fiery orange/blazing orange on the armor. It's resulted in two distinct shades of red, so it works for me. The inside of the cloak is black.

I was so pleased with how Dante's gold turned out, I've been trying to figure out how to fit as much gold onto Mephiston as I can. Hell, I might go back and put more gold on all my guys. But I digress. For the Chief Librarian, I'm going to make the base of each blood drop icon gold, the lines segmented his breast-plate gold, and the skulls on the edge of the cloak gold, along with some trim here and there. We'll see how that goes.

Viperion's Second Update

OK so I've made a little bit - literally - of progress but have done a lot of thinking so that totally counts, right? :pinch:

These are the fellas, with a base coat and two or three layers of thinned Mithril Silver:

And a Tac Flamer dude with the first layer of purple (using Imperial Purple for this layer, then Amethyst Purple over the top)

And my first layer of purple on a Terminator:

:HQ: June Update I :HQ:

Not loads of progress I'm afraid, I've been on holiday since my last update, then been distracted by Red Dead Redemption and last but by no means least I've been working on a couple of other projects as well. But I have nearly finished the Wolf Lord (who incidentally I need to think of an official title for as he's not an actual Wolf Lord but a very senior Iron Priest... Lord of the Forge perhaps?)

A few photos of how he currently looks:

http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/Space%20Wolves%20Army/WLF1.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/Space%20Wolves%20Army/WLF3.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/Space%20Wolves%20Army/WLF2.jpg

I've just shaded his face so it's ready for highlighting up along with his hair and beard, then I just need to go over a couple of cables and do his base and job'll be a good 'un.

Now to aquire the parts I need for that Land Speeder....

thanks

James

OMG's Angels Sanguine
CoI Update

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v699/OwlandMoonGuy/Angels%20Sanguine/10-Librarian-Shield.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v699/OwlandMoonGuy/Angels%20Sanguine/10-Librarian-Rear.jpg

That makes 2/5 squads complete. I would be a lot farther along if I didn't have other modeling projects getting in the way but I guess that's why they call this a challenge.

It's good to see the progress so many are making.

Pdogg's Blood Angels, June Update 1, Update 3 Overall

Hey guys,

Still haven't been able to find my camera in all the moving boxes, but I managed to finally find my bitz boxes so it seems I'm close; that being said, I did make some serious progress over the past week-and-few-days since my last update.

5 Terminators: DONE

Mephiston: DONE

10 Assault Marines: Base coated scab red, bases finished

Landraider Redeemer: Base coated scab red, layered with red gore, and now being layered with blood red (about 33% done with the blood red)

I really want to get creative on Mephiston's cloak and with decorating the landraider; I'm going to fashion a cool banner pole for Mephy, using some eldar bitz from the the wraith lord kit (came with some beautiful flowing ribbons and tapestry pieces), and want to do something simple yet impressive on his cape, and was thinking of ideas for what to do, and where to do, some freehand art on the landraider. Any suggestions or pics for inspiration? Any advice and help is certainly appreciated- and pics will be posted as soon as I find that pesky camera of mine.....

Cheers,

Nick

Current Update
Man Down!

Well, it seems that due to circumstances beyond my control, I am forced to withdraw from the Call of the Imperium IV. As I find time to continue to model and play I'll make sure to update my WIP page, as well as my blog.

Thank you for all of the inspiration and fun that this has provided.

We're all dropping like nurgle's flies this time around it looks like. Alas, I too must withdraw from the Call, too many obstacles in RL at the moment to allow me anymore time to do some modelling. If and when I get the chance to though i'll be back updating my Blood Angels chapter log. Good luck to everyone else in the Call, and looking forward to seeing more awesome works of art!

Basecoat Shadow Grey

light drybrush of Space Wolves Grey

wash whole mini with Badab Black

drybrush downwards with Space Wolves Grey

lighter drybrush downwards with Skull White

wash recesess with watered down Dark Flesh

wash 'inside' the previous wash with watered down Scorched Brown

wash the whole mini with watered down Scorched Brown

enjoy,

RL has been dealing me blows left and right lately. I could probably find the time to finish my vow, but lack the motivation with everything that is going on. So I'm having to withdraw.

UPDATE: JUNE #1

I'm soooo behind from where I wanted to be by now... I've finished removing of mold-lines, and filled the gaps. I'm done undercoating 2 of the 10 Grey Hunters (I use black gesso, so it's a tad slower than spray but at least I can do it regardless of weather/humidity). I figured looking at 2 black grey hunter would be stupid, and I can't find the battery charger for the camera anyway, so, I'm going to have to put up pics sometime later... My intention is to paint this squad using the recipe Pig of Sparta used for his Iron Priest, and then paint up either the GW Ragnar or a Ragnar I kit-bash...

June Update 2

Working on the Vindicator, which is the added unit to my vow when I completed the original 3 units.

Sadly, I'm stuck with my not so good camera. Got a better one, but it was missing the cable to connect it to the computer. So trying to track that down and hopefully will soon.

JUNE - UPDATE 8

Things are still progressing slowly, but they are progressing. The Vanguard are coming on nicely, as is the dreadnought, and the Terminators are ready for the first layers of green to go on.

Alas no photos this week - the batteries are gone in my camera and I cannot find the charger. I'll have some ready for update 9 though. :)
