Ryzouken
Anyone else receive a security advisory from eBay regarding the Russian wolf models listing being removed from eBay? It's warning me to either rescind or prevent payment as the sale may be fraudulent... -_- More and more kicking myself over not buying the Phillipino models... Interesting. I wonder what would have prompted that? Perhaps an IP infringement? One too many negative feed back? Godhead
I have the russian wolves, and a guy at the game store has the Mr Dandy ones, and to be honest while the detail is awesome one the Mr dandy ones they are HUGE.. almost too big IMO. Godhead
They don't suck, and I think they are awesome awe inspiring character models, but are HUGE HUGE HUGE for just a plain jane squad of troops. I don't know how anyone pulls a cover save without a wall of 2 or 3 land raiders with those guys :( I am going to buy the phillipino (spelling???) ones next I think. I like the character displayed in those models alot. Ryzouken
Problem with the Mr. Dandy models is: they're bloody expensive. I refuse on general principle to pay 20 bucks for half a model, it's why I didn't pay for Canis (that and Canis's dog is bloody ugly.) The models out of the phillipines, when available, appear the better buy, assuming they too don't turn out to be an evil, money devouring, eBay angering monstrosity... So how long do I wait to apply for my money back... Emperor's Scourge
You could always just hit up maxmini.eu. They're an actual company in Poland as opposed to some random person on eBay. High quality resin and the wolves aren't HUGE like Mr Dandy's. gainesdp
I ordered some russian thunderwolves in early April/Late March (can't remember exact date). Received them last Monday or Tuesday. Maybe 2-3 weeks total time from order to arrival. Nothing bad to say; I'd think you are probably fine, but who knows. Coverfire
I purchased six wolves from mrs_velad which took a while to get here - maybe 3-4 weeks. If no thunderwolves come in the next cycle I might purchase some of Mr Dandy's but I didn't realise that they were that large. Beautiful. But are they more suited for IC joining Thunderwolf Cavalry? I may have to go buy some resin and see about casting my own ... but i'm not sure how a copy of a copy will look... =/ I needed like 2 more of the russian wolves.... drat Guess i'll swap them for some SKYclaws till GW gets off its lazy ass and makes some for 'ardboyz. Lumdin
Well I can see people's opinions differ on what models to use. But for me Mr. Dandy's are the only option. These are my reasons - When I first read about thunder wolf cavalry, I had a hard time picturing space marines riding wolves. Average human male about 175 lbs, asartes more like 250 to 300 lbs. Then add the armor, maybe another 200 to 250 lbs. (total about 450 to 550 lbs roughly) Then place that on a wolf. I couldn't picture it. I then saw the Canis model and it was a bit more believable but the price was a bit too much per model. So then the Mr. Dandy models come along, a size that seems more realistic, and obvious bionic enhancements that makes them plausible for a mount. I don't really worry about getting them cover saves, because I ryn a mechanized army and getting them cover has been pretty easy. I don't run an expensive TWC unit, and I also give my opponent tons of stuff to think about. I think the Russian wolves would be perfect size if imperial guard were riding them but not power armored troops. The philippino models are nice but the reviews that they have come in broken through shipping makes me wonder the quality of the resin and packing. Sometimes when you pay less you get what you pay for. But again these are only my opinions and what is great is that we can all have different opinions. Mr. Dandy has excellent customer service and would highly recommend him because of that. My 2 cents. ReyRex
I have 8 of the Russian ones. They always came well packed. Yes, they did take 3 to 4 weeks to come in but they look great and the size seems right! I think these were the best looking ones. As far as the resin goes, they came very well done. No air holes and very little flash to remove. I was very happy. I had a feeling they would get "restricted" so I purchased a few extras for futrue upgrades. Granted I don't have any MrDandy personally, I am just judging from the pictures but these I feel are/were the best. Loki73
I have the Russian ones right now (took about 4 weeks to deliver). I like em. I also have the Dandy ones. They do come off a bit Voltronish...ie form legs, head and torso! But I like them none the less. winternight
Yeah I have to say that the Mr Dandy ones look really stiff and weird to me. "Voltonish" is a perfect adjective. Korraz
I don't know, the Mr.Dandy ones just look way too big. For one dude or a Wolflord it's okay, but having 6 or 7 Wolves that are bigger than Rhinos... Considering I live in Europe I'll pay more for the Non-GW Wolves, than for Canis. So I might as well wait till they come in plastic.
