Levitas
We really do have so many great builds, but the synergy of these two units is perhaps my favorite at the minute. I've played a few games with them against a number of opponents and builds. Each time they create total havoc. There are a number of combinations with both units, but the core is creating utter disarray for your opponent by target selection. Thunder wolves will attract a lot of attention, they can also chew through most things and take a bit of a bruising with the right build. Then you have long fangs who are cheap, can split fire and open up most tin cans. I ran a 4 man TWC (1 SS, TH, Melta bomb, regular) along side a thunder lord with frost blade, runic armor, WTN, and beastslayer. For the fangs I used 2 squads of 6 man with 5MLs in each. Plus a cyclone wolf guard for good measure. This was 1500-2000pt game range. I found that the TWC died every game, but in the process had absorbed around 60% of my opponents forces in each game, reaping back double their points while dominating his attention. While the long fangs constantly pummeled from afar, able to flick the frag switch to thin the nid gribbly horde. One opponent shaking his head and proclaiming long fangs the best heavy support in the game, while TWC scare the crap out of all but the most staunch of veterans. Thats before you even take grey hunters into the equation. i'm still tinkering, thinking that two 3 man TWC squads may be better than 1 pack. So whats your favourite unit synergy? eyeslikethunder
Rune priests w LL and Grey hunters in a rhino I find these combo very well the RP giving the GH's extra range firepower and combat ability and increased leadership while the GH protect and provide a base or the RP to strike from. With the second power added tactical ability with 2 dangerous terrain powers restricting movement or JoWW sniping power (very useful with Sanguinary Priests) I accept this is more a combo than synergy Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/199562-thunder-wolf-long-fang-synergy/#findComment-2376833 Share on other sites

VorpalDoom
Just about every game I play these days, the Synergy is between 3 types of units: Here's how they look at a 2000 or 2500 point game, any less and I start shaving upgrades & models. 5 Grey Hunters Meltagun, Power Weapon, Mark of the Wulfen, Wolf Standard Wolf guard Power Fist, Combi-Melta Razorback -203 pts. 1 Thunderwolf Cavalry Thunderhammer Storm Shield -110 pts. 5 Long Fangs 5 Missile Launchers Pack Leader Wolf Guard Razorback Lascannon + Twin-Linked Plasmagun -233 pts. As I said before, this is only what these units look like at a high point game, around 100, you star losing a lot of little goodies, but the units still behave relatively the same. The army tends to include a couple (or 3) 10 man rhino riding units of grey hunters, with scout squads. target saturation, and enough mobility to scare the pants off of mech'd eldar.
