Gresiloth
Here is another power fist champ for my Nurgle army (see the first one here). Notable components are Chaos Warrior legs, Ork shoulder pad armour plate, adapted Ork burna tank backpack, severed head (from Ork sprue?), trophy spike from Chaos vehicle sprue, and Chaos Knight head with horns removed. I'm so impoverished of power armoured bits at the moment that I had to resort to cannibalising an old Space Wolf sergeant! http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2206.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2207.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2208.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2209.jpg My thoughts on this model are as follows - using Chaos Warrior legs is TOUGH! The legs seem quite stumpy and the stance is very narrow. I wanted to make it look like power armour, which meant sculpting shin pads. This was a total nightmare, us Nurgle players shouldn't have to sculpt crisp smooth surfaces, it just aint natural! The task was helped by a clay shaper I just got though, I'd definitely recommend them (I went for a size 0 flat chisel). I decided to keep the 'wings' on the knee-pads as they give a somewhat archaic look. With his right leg I decided to have bloated flesh oozing out of ruptured armour, partly because I think it looks cool but partly to avoid sculpting a pristine looking grieve! The FW Nurgle Sorcerer sculpt was a big influence here. Also, the legs are annoyingly sculpted so that the back side basically needs to be covered with the cloak. I think this is pretty lazy of GW, it means I had to sculpt on the chainmail. I also had to add the standard bum armour with green stuff! He's leaning back a bit more than I intended, but it's not so noticeable in real life. Everything else was pretty straightforward. Bending the guitar wire was quite fiddly but there was plenty of surplus to try again if it went wrong. I have another seven pairs of Chaos Warrior legs - I intend to make a squad of Chosen with them - but now I'm a bit scared of sculpting up a whole squad of fake power armour legs!! I think if I were to do it I would make the grieves more pitted and rotten; it's just a shame the legs all have exactly the same pose.
