Arena of Death: Demonhunters entry

Sadly, Grand Master Acubens ran into a buzzsaw and was cut down in his Round 1 battle. B)

Admittedly, I never had high hopes for him. It's been a long time since the GM was worth his points. Yet another proof that a simple BC + 2 GKTs -- for almost exactly the same points cost -- is a more effective buy in the vast majority of situations. They would have stood a much better chance of taking down the same foe.

Instant Death is the only thing that makes a BC and 2 man retinue better than a GM. Every other circumstance I can think of the GM wins out.

I smell a challenge! :)

Clearly there are at least a few situations where the GM will be handy. But most of the time, in my personal experience, he's just not as efficient. As already stated, having thrice the shooting and twice the melee attacks is nearly always as good or better. Even at I4. ;)

If you'd like to discuss this further, skarn, I encourage you to start a topic on it and we can run some numbers or whatever suits your fancy. B)

For now, let us just lament the absurdity of a GK GM losing to a Chaos Lord. ;) ;) :(

We are so powerless we can't even prevent our enemies from taunting our humiliations in our own home forum. B)

See, this sort of stuff is why we need another Crusade. Take back some planets from chaos, burn a couple of chaos lords. That'll make them fear us.

From what I could tell and was said, she definitely did give as good as she got. I believe it was simply a case of going up against the 3+ stormshield, and eventually running out of Faith points, which meant the balance switched back to the higher initiative Space Marine, who got lucky and got past her defenses. I was concerned about the Marine's higher Init as a whole, and the insta-gib thing. Of the two, I could only sort of combat one via wargear. If she can go toe to toe with a modern Space Marine Captain and be essentially tied, and had I an armies worth of Faith probably would have won. Sooo... a good showing at least, and reinforcing a bit of respect for the Ordo's.

Now she just holds a grudge and has an excuse for a bionics wargear!

She had the advantage I think for the first two rounds (or as long as her 2+ invuln was up) then it shifted to the Marine with his 3+, S6 and her T3 vs her 4+ S5 and his T4 with a re-roll to hit. Still, she done did good and will definitely be getting some more table time in my army roster now that she's built and painted even!

Well if thats not the best motivator ever! Lol... Just reminds me I need to get my army on the table for once.

Ok so... Lost an arm... If this were a horror movie you know she'd come back to kill the winner. ^_^

=]D[=

Ahoy. I just wanted to salute a worthy opponent on a hard-fought battle. From what I gather, it was a very protracted battle that came down to one wound on either side, and I got the lucky rolls. I was really nervous going in, after refreshing my understanding of the Sisters' armoury, and the outcome rather forcibly reminded me of the one time I've fought a Sororitas army: a brutally draw with same army that ran roughshod over a pure GK force with two Land Raiders.

Anyone who says that WH isn't a viable army should be smacked in the mouth with an Exorcist. :)

And I look forwards to the day that Piaast and Kristina meet again, so she can thank him properly for bringing her closer to the Drag-- er, Emperor-Omnissiah.

Indeed! She'd probably attempt to lecture that she has learned that flesh and body are of no consequence, as in the end all that matters is faith in the Emperor and doing his will, or some such :P Glad that she definately wasn't a pushover too! Good luck with the Arena, and no hard feelings.. even if you're a hidden Dragon worshi - loyal member of the Imperial Cult <_<
