My Thunder-Wolf Conversion WIP

Whilst the model is well made and painted, I'm afraid he looks like he's riding a Shetland Pony!

Sorry but anything warhound sized is just to small to be a Thunderwolf.

I have to agree. I think the concept is awesome and the look is perfect. It's just the size that puts me off. Pity really.

Considering the fluff bit in the codex mentions them "reaching" 8 feet in height.... That wolf model is actually properly scaled. Remember, these beasts have mechanical enhancements, so they're far stronger than flesh and bone.

Remember, canis' mount happens to be the largest Thunderwolf... even described as "monstrous" So, smaller than canis' Thunderwolf is good, and 8 feet at the shoulder, which is about the same as a space marine, we're lookin' good on scale... even considering 40k's take on "heroic scale"

I mount my Thunderwolves on 40mm round bases, I suggest the same, seems more fitting, a long base, for some reason, seems to push the idea of a bike, or something that's not as agile as a thunderwolf is.

In any case...

The model is looking great, the sculpt work is well done, can't wait to see it finished!

I've yet to have an issue after bringing them to many tournaments about base size. If my opponent made an issue out of it, i'd tell them that 1. Canis' thunderwolf is the largest there is, according to the codex, and 2. there is no thunderwolf model, so the base size is anything i want it to be.
