Thudo
To all Space Wolves/13th Company TT/codec gurus.. I need the following spotting scripts written when a Space Wolf Marine squad spots the following for the first time on the battlefield. Two scripts written for each is needed.. Alpha Legion Black Legion Night Lords Red Corsairs Blood Ravens Crimson Fists Imperial Fists Iron Hands Raven Guard Red Scorpions Salamanders Catachan Last Chancers/13th Penal Legion Tanith First & Only (Gaunt's Ghosts) So as an example.. when Space Wolves spots against the following on the battlefield they would say: Dark Angels *Snarling noises* The Angels of Darkness! Lions dogs! Thousand Sons Our most hated Foe approach! Those we were sent to destroy draw close! Praetorian Praetorians! Praetorians, why do they come, they know they shall die All your help is most appreciated! Decoy
I dunno, mate. Wolves don't really do that whole "Look! Enemy!" sorta dilly. They tend to just howl, I'd wager, then commence the slaughter. (Also, "Lions Dogs", coming from space wolves? For shame. ;) ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/199983-space-wolves-battlefield-spottings-against-the-following/#findComment-2382000 Share on other sites
Thudo
This is an RTS project.. they have to say something as its part of the mechanic of the game.. Demonslayer
'Umm dinner time', As Decoy said, They mostly just howl. Thudo
Then assume the smartest of the Wolves/13th speaks such as a Rune Priest, Wolf Priest, Wolf Lord, or even a Terminator Rune Priest. Apart from Russ, who would speak with a semi-decent command of the English language among the Wolves? Spacefrisian
I would have put something down here but once i see an enemy they are just lambs to the slaughter. Be it Catachan, Blood Angel or 1k son each of them ends up a bloody mess. Decoy
The 13th Company WOULD NOT say anything. They hunt. They kill. They do those two things and little else. Snarls, chuffs, barks, and howls only. Regular Wolves? We're going after an enemy. We know what to do, we know how to do it, and we howl when we know that we are to bring death to our enemies. Doesn't matter who they are. It'd be better as a howl anyways, if you ask me, or a series of howls; imagine, as Blood Ravens, wandering about the map with your Heavy Weapons teams... and suddenly hearing a bloodcurdling howl and fortress-gray-armored warriors running screaming and howling, chainswords and frost blades waving. Even playing an RTS, if I saw that for the first time, I'd wet myself. EDIT: Sorry to seem unhelpful mate, but it's really pretty true. Reading any of the Wolf novels, any of the Wolf fluff... We don't do "Oh, look, it's these guys!" We howl and kill. Thudo
That logic is absurd, brother.. How the heck would the SW/13th survive as a cohesive army WITHOUT some form of communication? They aren't Necrons or Tyranids which communicate in far more advanced ways/mental links. Yes the Wolves slaughter with Growls and such much like World Eaters also but I've studied Wolves: they speak with a Nordic/Viking/North-Men accent.. they have to: their NOT mindless automatons. As you see in my 3 Wolf examples: I've had some Space Wolf guys write my original spotting lines but now I need a final slew of them hence why I am here asking to finish them up. Decoy
The 13th Company lives in the Warp. They pretty much kill everything. In regards to how Wolves "function": As a general rule, we have a sort of "pack" mentality. Surprisingly, we're remarkably stealthy, and can and do communicate best with a series of hand signals, nods, grunts, chuffs, et cetera while on the prowl. The premise of not being able to function without audible conversation is rendered moot by the simple fact that wolf packs (real ones, that is) hunt perfectly well based simply on things like pricked ears and pointed stares. I tend to consider the Space Wolves similar in that regard until the quarry is spotted and run down. EDIT: The above is also reinforced by the fact that Wolves can, thanks to their enhanced senses of sight and scent, communicate by emotional levels, pheromones, and stressors alone. Thudo
Yes of course. However, such sounds don't work for the game mechanic in question. Compromises were reached and snarls and such are added along side the speech. Having just growls and snarls in an RTS won't make for much excitement. Gameplay is key and we involve the player with dialogue and soundfx faithful to what they represent in TT. Look, all I'm asking is that you drum up some dialogue based on the need of the game mechanic we're working with. Use your best possible guess. postal105
for Alpha Legion Black Legion Night Lords Red Corsairs there all Chaos so my guess would be a long fang saying here comes those traitors bastards then leveling his heavy weapon and letting loose a deadly barrage of led as the came near. as for the others no idea. but i have always seem my wolves as a group of silent hunters whom hunt silently and strike at there foe when it is most advantageous to them to do so. DV8
Take a page out of Dawn of War. Don't use enemy-specific battle-cants/cries or slogans. Just have them chant or cry out Fenrisian catechisms when on the hunt/attack/defense. For example: "For Russ and the AllFather!" when charging "The Wolves of Fenris hunt tonight" when mobilizing units. You can also go with the generic Imperium dogma quotes that the characterse always voice out in Dawn of War "Walk softly, and carry a big gun." I'll be honest though a lot of these quotes don't do it for a lot of people (I found/find them laughably comical, and it's one of the big reasons I don't play Dawn of War, or indeed most other RTS). I find they detract from the "seriousness" or the "mood" of the game, and just stop taking it seriously. Hfran Morkai
Unfortunately due to the unique nature it is difficult, almost impossible. I'll round a few up though. Tanith First and Only: "Touched by Lokyar are these warriors..." Catachan: "These whelps would almost make worthy Fenrisians!" Black Legion: "The Oathbreakers! They manipulated the sons of Russ!" Night Lords: "Like serpents of old, they slip through our fingers." Thudo
Appreciate any submissions I get for the above factions to spot against. This IS for Dawn of War.. specifically a secret 13th Company mod project coming out soon. We could use all the Space Wolf dialogue we can get as thats what we are working with. We have all the Wulfen growls and snarls all done but not this sort of spotting dialogue so any help here to finish us up on the voice side is so massively appreciated. WolfLord Digby
I know this is completely off topic but DV8 bought back the Dawn of War memories...just wanted to say the orks have all the best lines, lots of character... A shame space wolves wernt in the game im sure they would have had the best lines, unfortunately we got the blood ravens.............who suck! Thudo
The irony in that last statement of yours, WL Digby, is... NOW IS YOUR CHANCE to redeem that folly/oversight of DoW! What we have is faithful to the Wolves enough that it fits into the game mechanic. Hfran Morkai
Well be sure to let us know when the project nears completion. :tu: I'd be keen to have a go, considering we could have grey Marines in skirmish lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/199983-space-wolves-battlefield-spottings-against-the-following/#findComment-2382265 Share on other sites
Thudo
You bet... project has been refined a lot since the beginning. Love the feel and originality placed in by the 13th team. An Actual SW project is also half finished and obviously has much more assets than 13th which barely has anything except what they can fight with. Gyson_Vore
Alpha Legion Come, and fight like true warriors! Die like the cowards you are! Black Legion Your gods cannot save you! The only good traitor is a dead one. We bear the All Father’s wrath! Night Lords Russ knows no Fear! Red Corsairs For the Wolf! ((Refers to the loss of the Strike Cruiser, Wolf of Fenris)) Blood Ravens Die, Fatherless whelps! Hfran Morkai
Penal Legion: "Are these fools suicidal?!" Crimson Fists: "Time to finish them off!" Imperial Fists: "The sons of Dorn, claimed to be as unmoving as rock. Let us test this." Iron Hands: "The man-machines feel no lust for battle!" Raven Guard: "Watch the flanks brothers, the Ravens are hunting!" Salamanders: "The dragons of fire approach!" Got nothing for Red Scorpions because I'm unsure of battle doctrines and the like. Hopefully some of that is fitting lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/199983-space-wolves-battlefield-spottings-against-the-following/#findComment-2383004 Share on other sites

Stormshrug
You're going to need a Voice Actor comfortable with howling: Alpha Legion -"You will not twist away from the Jaws of the Wolf this time! -Howl-" Black Legion -"The fallen wolves! We will bury the name they tarnished." Night Lords -"You expect to cow the Sons of Russ with shadows and mist! What arrogance! Feel true terror and DIE! -Howl-" Red Corsairs -"The bloody traitors have returned. This time, they will not find our resolve wanting." -"Red Corsairs! The justice of Fenris comes for you! - Howl-" Blood Ravens -"Sorcerers approach! The stink of the warp wafts from them." Crimson Fists -"Show us the vaunted strength of Dorn!" -"The Sons of Dorn are renowned for their defenses. We shall shatter them between our grinding fangs." Imperial Fists -"Wounded prey does not always fall easily. Be wary, brothers." -"Survive this, Sons of Kantor, and you will be worthy of his stubborn saga!" Iron Hands -"The Iron Hands revere dreadnoughts as much as we do, brothers. Let us do them the favor of sending them to their steely rest!" Raven Guard -"Feel free to join us on the ground, cowards. The wolves are waiting." -"The night does not favor you alone! -Bloodcurdling Howl-" -"Raven Guard! Be wary, brothers - a wise hunter plans an ambush." Salamanders -"The Sons of Vulcan approach. Prepare an extra ration of ale, for our feast tonight shall be served with some spice!" -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/199983-space-wolves-battlefield-spottings-against-the-following/#findComment-2383624 Share on other sites
