Warsmith Morenze
<April>, Update <1>. I took some pictures of this month's painting projects. I haven't sprayed them yet in these pictures, as I wanted to do a before/after kind of setup. Anyway, here's what's up for this month. Chaos Space Marines (12) (note that there is a Sorcerer with the unit in this picture) http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/WarsmithMorenzesProjects001.jpg But they aren't the most important thing, oh no. That's my Sorcerer. http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/WarsmithMorenzesProjects002.jpg http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/WarsmithMorenzesProjects006.jpg He's one of my favourite converted models as he was so simple to do, and yet looks so good. His components are: Kronus body (or whatever he is called. I forget now.) Chaos Havoc helmet Chaos marine arm and shoulder pad Warriors of Chaos sword hand. http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/WarsmithMorenzesProjects005.jpg Note the use of a Chaos Warrior sword for his force weapon. I was surprised it fit so nicely. The next update will be concerned with the painting of the aforementioned sorcerer, so any tips before I start would be most welcome. I really need to know how to do mud effects on marine armour. Thanks for your time, and I'll post more pics in a week or so. Fairly easy, I found. All you need is a good modelling knife, though having said that I was a little careless when I did it, so I had to have tissues handy. In any case, it's a simple job. Hope that helps! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200004-iron-warriors-stuff-by-warsmith-morenze/#findComment-2382290 Share on other sites

I'll have to keep an eye on your thread, I remember being very impressed with the stuff on it. Warsmith Morenze
<May>, Update <2> The Sorcerer: Apologies if the pictures are poor, it seems that my camera needs a bit of maintenance. Anyway, here is the sorcerer with his finished paint scheme. I am particularly proud of the Chaos Star on his chest; it's top point ends on the marine's helmet. The reason I am proud of it? I didn't mess it up. http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/DSCF2501.jpg http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/DSCF2502.jpg I just had a look at this last photo, and annoyingly, the highlights on the sword don't show. They are Burnished gold, incidentally, on a base of Boltgun Metal washed twice with Gryphonne Sepia. It looks pretty good when you aren't viewing it second-hand, although that opinion is about 70% personal bias... Next update will be concerned with my rank-and-file, the Chaos Space Marines. At least, if I can get my camera to work it will. Ashe Darke
Nice work man. The sorcerer is look good, such a simple thing, I didn't realise what he was composed of at first. I like the guy with the melta and pistol as well. If you want any tips for the painting just ask. I was thinking of doing my NL raptors I'm working on for the call but I can't afford to do a second thing so I think I'll just wait until the next one. Anyway keep up the good work :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200004-iron-warriors-stuff-by-warsmith-morenze/#findComment-2384564 Share on other sites

Warsmith Morenze
<May>, Update <3>. Right, because a certain Ashe Darke won't leave me alone... Here is my finished banner bearer, for my CSM squad. Originally, his rag would have had the Iron Wariors skull on it, until I realised that painting such a thing freehand was far beyond me. In answer to the guy who asked about the shoulder trim on the sorcerer's shoulder, it's Dwarf Bronze with a thin wash of Devlan Mud. I'll be honest, I cut corners wherever possible. http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/WarsmithMorenzesProjects010.jpg A frontal view of Banner man. http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/WarsmithMorenzesProjects009.jpg http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/WarsmithMorenzesProjects008.jpg His banner, from a WFB Chaos Warrior sprue. http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/WarsmithMorenzesProjects007.jpg http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx232/Warsmith_Morenze/WarsmithMorenzesProjects006-1.jpg And some general views. Will get started as soon as humanly possible on the squad, I have AS levels to attend to at this point. As ever, comments, questions, suggestions etc. most welcome. Warsmith Morenze
This is some sweet stuff, I gotta say! Can't wait for more... Why, thank you! I'm glad you like it. Also, as a general question directed at everyone, what would be the best way of showing heat damage on meltas? I have seen it done before (effectively a brown bit on the shooty end of the weapon) but am not entirely sure how to go about it. Ideas, folks? How many more Iron Warriors have you got left to finish off for that unit? I've got about 11 of these guys to do before the unit is finished (I think I will do them in groups of 5) Also, you probably won't be seeing these guys in store until they're done, so you may have to wait a bit... Angrypantz
Then I believe you need to devote more time to your chaos space marines.
