<June>, Update <5>

 

 

Due to a mixture of exams and recent events thta have affected my family, I've not been able to get much work done over these last few weeks.

Education comes first, and all.

 

However, I have managed to put together the mercenary Khorne CSM I am now doing (replacing the Terminators originally planned) as well as finishing off the unit Champion from the Iron Warriors CSM unit.

(NOTE: I'm not sure how well it comes out in the picture, but the base of his power weapon is a faint purple, to represent the disruption field of the weapon in question)

 

And these are the Khornate Mercenaries. They use the rules of Chosen CSM in games. Some may notice that several of the marines have Space Wolf parts, as well as the odd Black Templar bit here and there. This is because they were converted from the old Blood Claws box set, with the addition of whatever else I had to hand, but also to represent the toll war has taken on them; without a proper chapter base, they are forced to cannibalise the armour of the loyalist SM they happen to kill.

It's hard to see in the photos, but any marine with an Aquila on his chest plate has gouges and slices running across said holy symbol. Hey presto, instant defilement.

I'm still not sure what the colour scheme of the renegades will be yet, but I'm thinking maybe a Bleached Bone-style colour with red detailing: Their chapter badge, in any case, is decided. It will be a bloody hand print on the right shoulder pad. In addition, I was thinking of painting certain parts of their armour different colours to represent the chapters they had looted from after battles. Any suggestions?

That guy with the chainsword and the marauder horseman helmet is just plain awesomes. The aquila stuff is Soul Hunter inspired surely?

 

Nice work with the powerfists as well. There's like 2 poses unless you modify the arm. I quite like the axes as well. Cannie wait until they're done.

The Aquila stuff? Kinda, though it was also inspired by the renegades in the old CSM codex. Also, glad you like the helmets, just goes to show what you can do with some bits you had no previous use for.

Right, the Iron Warriors are finished, and I've begun the Khornate mercenaries. I kind of like the scheme I've done for them; it's gojng to be primordially a dusty Bleached Bone colour, with different parts of the armour coloured dark red.

Might be hard to see, but that symbol on his shoulder is a red hand, painted to look like it was done in blood - a gory new chapter symbol for these traitors.

Nice job man but don't forget about the bases. I like the green lenses, I'm a green lens guy myself. I'm not sure if the IW are grubby enough but that's personal tastes really, plus it might look different in person. But other than that it's all good :D

 

The Chosen are cool. So is it they were white but are now covered with that red/brown of dried blood?

 

Nice to see they've gone outside to enjoy the weather and fresh air ;)

Yeah, their armour used to be white. Of course, when all you do is fight battles, it'll get grubby eventually.

Besides, it was a nice day, and it's summer and all...

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! Well, almost. The Chosen are about 80% finished, so I will be moving on to my Terminator Lord soon enough. In the meantime...

Do you have a name for their warband or renegade chapter? I may paint some of my own CSMs up in this scheme, it's cool ;)
