Dave the Twisted
In this tutorial I will go through the steps to achieve a Combi-Plasma and 2 versions of a Combi-Melta. I apologize for the roughed-up nature of my bitz. I will re-do this tutorial with photos of clean bitz once I acquire some. I will also soon update this with photos hosted from the B&C galleries once I get it working. COMBI-PLASMA: WHAT YOU NEED -Astartes Boltguns -Plasma Pistol -Knife -File/Sandpaper -Glue http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10891.jpg HOW TO MAKE IT ((Disclaimer: This is not my design. I got the idea from a local Ultramarines player whose name escapes me)) 1: Take your Boltgun and cut/file down the top up to the panel at the back end. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10895.jpg 2: Cut/file away the red-painted area on the Plasma Pistol. Make sure it's level or else you'll very much regret it later. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10893.jpg 3: Trim down the red-painted area on the barrel of the pistol and file it into a curve. This will make it fit on top of the Bolter. If it doesn't sit right, keep trimming and filing. Dry-fitting and patience is your friend. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10894.jpg 4: After you've got it to just the right fit, glue it on and you have a fully-functional Combi-Plasma. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10896.jpg COMBI-MELTA TYPE 1: WHAT YOU NEED -Astartes Boltgun -Sprue Bit -File/Sandpaper -Knife -Glue -Patience HOW TO MAKE IT ((Disclaimer: This is not my design. It is credited to a local Wolves/Nids player)) 1: First, separate the Bolter's barrel from the gun and reposition it higher. Don't be a nitwit like me and drop the barrel. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10897.jpg 2: File the sprue down to a cylinder of an appropriate size and glue it beneath the barrel. I've learned that trimming and filing sprue into the correct shape is a major pain if you don't have lots of excess length on it to get a good grip. With the sprue Melta barrel attached you now have a fully functional Combi-Melta. This design can also be used for an Auxiliary Grenade Launcher. It's not the prettiest, and carving in the vents on the barrel can be hazardous, but it's cost-effective. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10899.jpg COMBI-MELTA TYPE 2: WHAT YOU NEED -Astartes Boltgun -Melta gun/Multi-Melta -Cylindrical Bit -File/Sandpaper -Knife -Glue HOW TO MAKE IT ((Disclaimer: As far as I'm aware this is my idea since I came up with it on the fly, although I could be wrong)) 1: Cut the Melta barrel from the gun. If you're using a Multi-Melta like I did, cut the two barrels in half. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10900.jpg 2: Remove the Bolter's barrel and replace it with the Melta barrel. You won't have room to reattach the Bolter's barrel. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10902.jpg 3: Shave the top of the Bolter like you did in the Combi-Plasma tutorial. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10904.jpg 4: Take your cylindrical bit and shave part of it flat so that it sits right on your gun. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10903.jpg 5: Attach the cylinder to the gun and you have a fully-functional Combi-Melta. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/braintick42/SDC10905.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200023-combi-weapons/ Share on other sites
