hello! in math class, i was so bored that i decided to mke a new chapter. before i expand on it, i wish ti ask the opinoin of ye mightty liber.

GOLDEN LIONS

gene-seed :rogal dorn( through iron knights)

home world : caluna

all i have so far is their organization

the golden lions derive from the proud heritage of rogal dorn, but lack the IF's strict discipline.

instead of having one chapter master, there is a chapter council, made of eight ancient ones in dreadnought armor. each ancient one leads a tribe of 100 marines. the golden lions are very fond of vindicators. once a golden lion initiate dons a suit of power Armour, they must prove their Honor by fighting as assault marines. if they have exceptional skill, they will become devastators. if they don't, they will either become a tactical, or stay as an assault marine. they are very fierce in CC but rely heavily on terminators and heavy weapons.

well, please give advice and corrections, but not TOO harsh :D

More dreadnought chapter masters?

Well, you must've missed the discussions on them. Basically, they won't work too well since dreadnoughts have to sleep a lot or they go insane. The older the dreadnought, the more sleeping is done.

Apart from that, seems like a good start.

Expanding and picking a good central theme seems to be the next logical step.

I like a chapter that favours range over combat, especially one that looks down on the idea of combat - I think this should be expanded upon. Maybe they feel that combat is a poor mans game, anyone can beat someone over the head with a club but it takes true skill to take a single shot to kill someone. In that case, I would make sure you don't over do their awesomeness in combat as this generally detracts from a chapter if they are awesome in all aspects of combat. You could even continue their range nature into combat and have them equipped with shields and pistols  They don't use combat weapons, the pistol still does the same function whilst the shield keeps them alive. The more advance you become, the further away from the enemy you can fight from Assault Marines -> Tactical Marines -> Devastators.

As Ace said, Dreadnoughts don't make the greatest leaders because they are like old people, they might have a lot of wisdom but they need to sleep alot.

I like the Chapter Council idea, BUT here's one that can emphasize what you want and fit in the "Lion" mode. Male Lions usually do nothing but ****, eat, and sleep. You can use your Dreadnought idea for that role. Your chapter's Techmarines only wake him when there's "food to eat" like Ork blood.

The rest of the council idea would be like the "Pride of Lions". Take your chapter's best warriors and rank them. There has to be one leader that stands out. The best way to describe this is the Jedi Knight Council. Each of them is a Master (except Anakin), but yet Yoda and Mace Windu stand apart from the rest of them.

I agree with Ferrata and Ace to not limit your marines to just Assaults. There are creatures in the Universe that need to be fought from a distance such as Genestealers. Go with the well rounded approach, but emphasize your chapter's zeal for assault.

You will need to explain why your chapter loves Vindicators. And why vindicators? I don't own one nor have I played with anyone who owns one.

Other than that, I like this idea. Good luck.
