Necron God
Yep I got a meat grinder mission to play! RIght I am the defending meaning to win I have to have at least 1 guy on the field! :) To lose I have to have nothing on the field! Thats it! But the attackl (guard) gets all troops which die back from the dead (only infantry no transports) So how and what would u use? I am thinking grey hunter spam with some dropping dreds to take out russes (if any) The game is 1500 points Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200087-meat-grinder-vs-guard/ Share on other sites
Hjaertrr
Don't know about an army but i'd take a lone wolf with TDA and storm shield, hide him somewhere in terrain, he'd be damn hard to kill, better yet do the same thing with 3, is it standard mission turn length? Cheers. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200087-meat-grinder-vs-guard/#findComment-2383243 Share on other sites

Valerian
Yep normal turn lengh and stardard mission! Just need to be rock hard (: I concur with the earlier post. If you can get a couple Lone Wolves in Terminator Armour with a Storm Shield into close combat with a large IG unit, then they should be able to live through the whole game for you. Otherwise, yeah, Grey Hunter spam. Also might want to take a unit of Wolf Scouts - depending on Reserve rolls, they might not enter play until the game is almost over, then just use your BEL move to lock a unit of IG in the rear, then hang on until the end of the game. Should be fun, good luck! Valerian Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200087-meat-grinder-vs-guard/#findComment-2383732 Share on other sites
the jeske
always take a 5/6 man bike unit and hide/turbo boost with it the whole game while the rest of the army stalls . kiling opposing units aint as much important as not being killed. so opposing tanks dont get destroyed , you just stun or shake them . you mulit charge IG units , so there is too many of them to kill too fast. having a lone wolf deployed on the other side of the table in a building out of True LoS of your opponent and not moving him the whole game works nice too. Warhorse47
How about adding a Long fang pack with 5 ML and a WG with Cyclone launcher? 7 missiles coming down with templates will hurt a guard army badly. Necron God
Great Ideas! So far I am thinking Rune Priest 3 Lone Wolfs, termintors, storm shield, wolf claw few squads of grey hunters few squads of long fangs, maybe a land raider to try and pop tanks! What you lot think? Hjaertrr
I wouldn't bother with the land raider especially with the number of melta weapons guard can bring to bear. I do agree with the earlier post that said take a biker unit to turbo boost round the table all game, between them and the lone wolves surviving shouldn't be a problem. Rune Priest is probably your best bet for your HQ choice, then i'd go with as many grey hunters and long fangs as you can fit into the list. Cheers. Necron God
That was the idea or the long fangs, 3 missiles, 2 lascannons on them I think! But yes scouts are a idea Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200087-meat-grinder-vs-guard/#findComment-2384181 Share on other sites

Skirax
I think what the secret is to this mission, is not to kill Guard units; let them get tied up in Combat, keep them on the board and don't kill off units. If this guy knows what he's doing he'll put the units in small squad, and not combine them so he can just spam asap. Don't go for maximum killy-ness, go for survivability. Do this by putting a Lone Wolf back in your deployment zone and sitting him in cover. Not fluffy, I know, but game winning. If all you need to win is to have at least one guy on the field, form a gunline and keep a really survivable guy back in your deployment zone or in a unit.
