Hey all

 

Working on my CF army at the moment, and decided to post up a blog of how its going in the hope of some advice and tips on how to improve my painting skills, so with further ado:

He's not quite finshed yet, the base needs doing and some the details tidying up. The light from the camera has exageratted some of the ink wash differences, off screen the blue is a pretty uniform tone

 

My Captain, i did him ages ago and posted him, but ive added a few touch ups since and also he deserves to be included with the rest of the army:

The shield was my first real attempt with greenstuff, and came out okay. I did consider redoing it, but decided to leave it for memory's sake. He's probaly my favourite guy, as he's entirely kit bashed, and came out okay

the lascannon guy has so far failed to hit pretty much everything he has aimed at... although he did get a defiler last game, finally

Pretty terrible photo, but thei in the same vien as the rest of the squad, the sarges' weapon is simly a powerfist with two chainswords on top when i realised i didnt want to spend 25 points on him

 

And finally so far Kantor's rhino, to be shared with his honour guard, still v much WIP:

The icon on the ram is greenstuffed, an improved version of the captain's shield, and the wreath took ages to do, getting the two roughly matching, but i think it came out alright, could be better. The marking on the top hatch is free hand, my first real attempt, and the keen eyed of you will have realised that its roughly the same as the pattern on kantor's banner. Some advice on the freehand would be much apreciated, as at the moment it looks a bit flat.

This is a good vid helping with the basics of freehand. Im also just starting to do my own banners/symbols etc. and i found this vid very useful. Hope it helps.

The models look good, i would work on the dreads silver metalics a bit more especially on the PC arm, they seem to lack depth (that could be the photo)

The mould lines on the PC could have been filled in aswell but its not something that i personally think effects the model that much.
