Idea for mixed WH / Blood Angel Successor

So, i've been trying for a while to start up an army of gold marines (i know this is the =I= section... im getting to it), but due to work and time issues, ive never gotten around to it. Ive also had several squads of SoB unpainted sitting in a box forever.

On top of this, ive always wanted to make a heavily converted Inquisitor + Retinue.

With the recent release of the new Blood Angels (I love the new plastics) i've decided to combine these idea, getting new marines to create a Blood Angel successor chapter, who have let the Black Rage overcome the and do something horrible on a certain planet. This has brought the attention of Inquisitor Lord S'jet (ya ya, itsa meee!). The marines will be called "Tears of [Planet]", havent decided on a planet name yet. I wrote this transmittion to try to capture my idea:

I will not see it done. The Chapter is true to its name, their tears have stained the ground of (Planet). I have seen it with my own eyes that they seek redemption for their actions.

Whilst details on their condition are unclear, I recall articles written by Chief Librarian Mephiston himself, relating to ***. He is proof that it can be overcome.

As you know, I was on Armageddon with the Sisters of the Argent Shroud during the third war. Their experience with Angels Vermillon and Flesh Tearers will be invaluable if there

comes a time they must be exterminated.

If you truely deem the Tears of (Planet) traitorous, I would accompany them on a Crusade of Penance. With the Sisters of the Argent Shroud and myself to guide them, they will find

what they seek. And when we find it, it will save not only the Tears of (Planet), but all of the Blood Angel Successors...

Last known transmition of Inqusitor S'jet, Ordo Hereticus

Thats the idea anyway....

What do you guys think? =)

I likes it.

This may be heavily swayed by me wanting to do something similar - scarily similar!

I think you have a good concept, and opens you up to collecting a themed crusade force, or diverging into pure WH or pure Tears of [insert name here] aswell.

By introducing the Inquisition element every game can have more depth - purely from a background, narrative driven aspect.

Thranquil

I like having a background and story behind your own collection :P I've found it useful and do so myself (mine hinging upon the 13th Black Crusade going into the semi-recent 13th Mordant "Lucky 13's Campaign") as well as having storyline ties between my various models, including a tie between my Imperial and Tau forces without heresy (that one I'm particularly proud of :( ).

I did concider Lamenters, but at the end of the day dismissed them as their chapter icon is a Heart.... may sound petty, but im more of a collect/painter.... not a gamer. So its all in the looking the best they can factor.

However, with the material ive read over the last few days, they did have an influence.... with them going on a crusade, etc... but i want the Inquisitor to be the main cornerstone, giving the chapter a second chance, with the SoB's help. (And make a cool looking army in the process.)

So what loadout of Sororitas are you thinking?

I am looking at 2 Battle Sister squads and a Canoness with retinue for a total of 5 faith but would like to see a loadout that uses seraphim. Unfortunately with 2 BSS and a Seraphim squad you only have 3 faith so the Canoness is rather essential for an allied contingent but there is nowhere to really put her! Where would you stick an independent Canoness?

On her own, with a jump pack and blessed weapon.

OR

Attach her to an assualt squad/veteran assualt squad/Death company with jetpacks until you get closes enough to attack then detach. She can't use faith if she is with them but detach her and have both assault the same target and you are fine.

yes, i was thinkling jump Canoness, 2x10 sisters in Rhinos, Seraphim Squad, and the Inquisitor being an elite choice if using as allies.

Originally i was planning on not taking a Canoness and taking and Inq Lord instead, but as you say, Canoness is nice.

Haven't really thought about what BA's to take yet, but my understanding is Sisters squads are a nice stand in for Tacticals...

If you are planning on your Inquisitor being a WH Inquisitor, I recommend a close combat one (due to several things I've gone over in other threads, notably Inquisitor Tactica: advice on effective Inquisitors, and a ranged Inquisitor for a DH Inquisitor. This is mostly due to psychic powers, wargear, and henchmen option differences between the two.

Ok, so ive been thinking some more, on how this army would work. I pretty much came to the conclusion that i want -

Mechanised Close Combat space marines

Close combat Inquisitor

Then the SoB will be the firepower.

Only problem i see with this is ranged anti-tank...

Does anyone see the best option on how i can combine these? For my marines im guessing using SW or BA Codex is best for CC.... Im asking because i have hardly ever played games of 40k.... just collected an army, painted it, sold it.... etc. But with this one i might actually give playing a go =)

Cheers guys.

Your best bet for ranged anti-tank is probably the non-Inquisition units, which shouldn't be a problem as our solutions involve either A ) a Heavy Support choice which you cannot ally to other Codices ( typically an Exorcist ), B ) Land Raider Transports which your Inquisitor can get, or C ) Inducted Imperial Guard troops, which you cannot ally to other Codices. Otherwise our anti-tank consists of meltaguns or inferno pistols which are both fairly short range. You Can use a Heavy Support choice of Retributors with Multi-meltas, but that's not very common.

Well, was planning on the SoB being allies because - cant ally space marines into a WH army if i have SoB (which i will). Only way to have Space Marines (of any codex) and SoB in the same army is to Use space marine list as primary, then ally in WH, isnt it?

Edit: Reread what you wrote... to sum up apply to me - Exorsists cant be used, Imperial guard i dont really want to use, so its between close range anti tank and Landraiders... right? =)
