Iron Gods Pirates

Recommended Posts

That's a crazy good looking Land Raider there. I like it. So much, in fact, that if we ever meet I might be overcome with a temporary case of kleptomania.... ;)

LOL, I guess it's just as well you're from 'a place I'm not' then! :P And thanks, the Civil war General is kinda what I was going for, a big, bombastic artilleryman!

@Race: It's:

GW Black undercoat

Adeptus Battle-Grey Foundation

Devlan Mud wash

Broad highlight of 50/50 Chaos Black/Codex Grey (doesn't matter if it's a bit rough as the armour is meant to look a little patchy)

Final exposed edge highlight of pure Codex Grey

Quick and simple but I'm happy with the result so it's all good! :)

No worries! :cuss

Quick update, the last PA unit for the planned 2k army, Squad Rasius:

and some close ups, standard marines first:

then Melta gunner, (Wolf) Standard, and count-as MotW (he's suffering from a bloodthirsty genetic curse, but it's not the Wulfen!):

Finally, the squad leader, Rasius, with his little bit of fluff:

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/simoncherylm/Iron%20Gods/Rasius.jpg

Although relatively youthful, Rasius is a true pirate; brutal, ambitious and coldly calculating. While Talek Varn appreciates Rasius’ abilities, he is well aware that the younger renegade might one day have the potential to threaten his own sovereignty. Therefore, Rasius’ squad is commonly assigned the most unruly and disturbed of any new recruits to the Iron Gods ranks, thereby keeping him far too busy to plot or plan for his own advancement.

(This explains the BA/MotW marine!)

As always C+C is very welcome! Up next will be Brother Mharkad, Talek Varn's faithful (and nuts!) Dreadnought bodyguard, to be built out of the ven.dread kit; plus a Drop Pod to carry him.

Update time!

Brother Mharkad, he's a standard Dread but as he's the only one in the army and the ven dread kit is so cool (and a whole £0.95 cheaper :D ) I figured I'd use that one. Pics and fluff (from the Iron Gods IT):

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/simoncherylm/Iron%20Gods/Mharkad1.jpg

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/simoncherylm/Iron%20Gods/Mharkad2.jpg

Interred in the metal body of a Dreadnought, Brother Mharkad is Talek Varn’s deadliest warrior and his most fervent supporter. No-one knows how long Mharkad has endured his cold half life, but it is clear that much of his mind is gone, with only his prodigious battle skills remaining. His speech and attitude are those of an ill-tempered child, but he is utterly obedient and fiercely loyal to his lord. Though there have been those among the Iron Gods who have thought to depose and replace their cruel master, Mharkad has ever stood ready to protect Varn from his enemies both within and without.

Still need to do Mharkad's Drop Pod, it's assembled and undercoated, just needs paint!

C+C always wanted, thanks for looking!

Thanks very guys!

Why must you make me hate you SCL? *Le Sigh*

It's a curse! *Le Sigh* :P :(

Sorry Belisarius, still no army shot. I will try and get one done for you, it's just awkward getting everything out and finding a space to lay them out for a pic! :)

However, a small update, my first Drop Pod. It will deploy Mharkad to the battlefield (my 'cunning plan' usually being to try and distract the enemy from Varn's Land Raider) and therefore I didn't add all of the internal gubbins. When I do the DPs for Ghoran and Rasius' squads, they will have harnesses! Anyway, couple of pics:

Edit: Not sure about the highlight going down the door in the first pic, looks a little untidy. Fear not, next time I get the paints out it shall be fixed!

C+C welcome!

Well, with a speed that for me is... suprising to say the least, my next unit is complete! Dunno if it's me getting faster (unlikely  ) or it's just a quick model to paint but here it is, a MM/HF Land Speeder (will be one of two, armed the same, run in separate FA slots). C+C still wanted, thanks for viewing!

WHERE IS THE FLUFF! I DEMAND FLUFF!!!!!

Ahem, I mean sweet. I always love your Iron GOds. Soon I may actually work on my Iron Dragons, an army long ago inspired by the IGs. Oh, and you may be happy to know that you have inspired me to create grey loyalists. Thanks a lot. :)

Awesome Land Speeder is awesome.

Also, I find your use of bronze instead of generic silver to be interesting. It alone makes your marines unique. On assault cannons, it provides a very nice steampunk sort of look. ;)

Also also, I second the demands for fluff.

Hi all, thanks very much for comments!

To be honest, I haven't figured out any fluff for the LS crews but now that you mention it, there's gotta be some potential to write something for them... Think I'll have a think about it, then when it comes to building the second one, I can add some more character in the modelling.

In the meantime, for you fluff heads ^_^ there's a new IG story in the Short Stories forum!

Thanks Ecritter, glad you like! Must say, your SoP are looking amazing too, great scheme and Daveyboy's doing a fantastic job of bringing it to the tabletop!

Anyway, in another surprising turn of events, I’ve found myself with lots of painting time this week. Had to wait in for workmen for a couple of days and the wife spent on evening at a concert (Shayne Ward :) at the 02 Shepherds Bush, I figure it must have been in the car park outside cos surely there cant have been enough people who cared about seeing him to fill a room? :tu: ;) ).

Anyway, all this means that I’ve had opportunity to finish the next squad, Talek Varn's elite Pathfinders (counts-as Wolf Scouts). Pics:

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/simoncherylm/Iron%20Gods/P1.jpg

And close ups:

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/simoncherylm/Iron%20Gods/P2.jpg

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/simoncherylm/Iron%20Gods/P3.jpg

And their leader, the villainous Castor:

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/simoncherylm/Iron%20Gods/Castor.jpg

Striking always from the shadows, Brother Castor is a master of stealth and infiltration tactics. He leads Talek Varn’s elite ‘pathfinder’ unit and has a well earned reputation among the Iron Gods as a stone cold killer, a vicious sociopath whose only pleasure in life can be found in the sight and feel of a blackened knife blade sliding effortlessly into yielding flesh.

No prizes for guessing what gene line Castor comes from, hope the skin tone is light enough, also GS'd the long hair, don't think it looks too bad?

C+C always wanted, thanks for viewing!
