Currently I'm gathering the minis I need for the call; be it a Ravenwing Land Speeder, 10 men tactical squad and a Dreadnought. The marines and Dreadnought I'm gonna use come from the AOBR box and the Land Speeder, well, from the Ravenwing Battleforce :huh: At the moment I have just a pile of parts, some of them primed. The AOBR marines look like they've been produced by Orks if you compare them to standard plastic kits from GW. As I hate the Seargeant mini, I'll be forced to convert it; luckily this one should be easy to turn into something acceptable. The Dreadnought is primed white and washed with badab black, but I think it shouldn't be a problem, as I'm planning to do some repositioning and paint it dark green. Finn Posted May 2, 2010 Author Share Posted May 2, 2010 May, update 2 Ok, here's the sergeant for the tactical squad. Using Dremel, I got rid of the bald head and replaced it with a normal SM helmet. I've swapped the pointy hand for a powersword from (I guess) DA Chapter Upgrade and the chainsword arm for a bolt pistol arm. Finn Posted May 9, 2010 Author Share Posted May 9, 2010 May, update 3 Hi All, I'm in the middle of exams right now, so I don't have much time to paint. This is my so far progress on the Call. Apart from the sergeant, no conversions - just some backpack swaps for the ones supplied on the Dark Angels Upgrade sprue. I've given one of my guys a strange banner I found in my bits box (comes probably from WFB). It's very rugged and looks like it's been improvised on tha battlefield. I think it will suit the overall look of the team I'm looking for. Not sure how to paint it yet. Fast and dirty paintjob - several lousy overbrushes over the Dark Angels Green base (Snot Green, Scorpion Green, Sunburst Yellow) followed by a Badab Black wash. Some more precise work with Mechrite Red and Blood Red. Three chest eagles done in Bleached Bone and Gryphone Sepia. Some initial work on the purity seals started. And the bases, too. All the models are pinned to them. Mind that this one is the model supplied with AoBR set after some conversions. I've repositioned the legs, added DA bits, fixed the hollow arms and changed the sarcophagus. I am fully aware that his right leg is messed up, but this was my first attempt at repositioning Dreads. If I could make a suggestion, I would turn the head a bit so that it faces a bit to the left (the left where he has the closecombat weapon). This way, the pose would look like he is resting in a wide stance, surveying the battlefield. The right foot would also look better if there was more rock beneath it. However, I won't move the head, as right now he has the "I am angry and I'm gonna tear you to pieces! Come get some!" :) Here's an odd question. Why don't people drill holes in the gun barrels? It only takes a few minutes and adds quite a lot to look. Maybe because people are lazy :P I am. But I think I may fix the barrels. BTW: What do you think? Should I leave the banner or get rid of it? It's hard to work, study to exams, spend whole weekends at the university, still have some social life and paint minis ;) But that does not mean I'm withdrawing my entry.
