Gubnutz Da Grim
Just a quick question. How do people feel about using the WW as an exorcist/ it would have SOB icons and decoration but I have heard that the Exorcist is somewhat of a PITA to assemble and I like the WW. Just wanted to know if I am going to make a mistake before I buy the WW. Judanas
Fine by me, looks a lot like the Forge World exorcist. If you have the spare parts however the best missile pods are the ones from the Valkyrie. They are round like the Forge World Missile pods. Utsujin
For my 3 exos, I actually have the exorcist kit, and bought the WW missile parts. I have the WW launcher mounted on the front hole of the top part of the chassis and the little rocket loader guy in the back. It looks really sweet. Using the WW as an exorcist is fine though. boreas
I've got 2 "organ" exorcists and 2 "WW" exorcist and both like nice. I used the immolator kit for the exorcists. I simply put the round fleur-de-lys cover on the front hole and the WW turret on the back one. Gubnutz Da Grim
Great. Thank for the replies. Have any of you had any problems in tournament play with the WW stand ins? Thinking of taking some SOB to ard boyz and I want to field 2 Exorcists(WW converts) in addition to a ton of Sisters. Kind of a mech/Foot hybrid list. Those Exorcists will really help with range and AT though so I need to make sure they are going to be allowed. Judanas
I imagine they will be fine as long as you convert them enough to not look exactly like whirlwinds. Get as much SOB stuff as you can, make it look unique. Gub Seriously, if they're down on your roster as a exorcist then you shouldn't have any probs in a tournie. After all there#s nothing else in a SoB list that will bear any similarity to an exorcist. Toogeloo
Whirlwinds are almost universally accepted Exorcist variants. Games Workshop even recognizes them as appropriate stand ins. You should never have an issue fielding one in a tourney setting unless it was specifically stated in the rules that only the exact models can be used, which should be extremely rare instances. The Space Wolf
Here's a picture of my previous edition Whirlwind that I converted into a Witch Hunter Exorcist. I plan to put actual Witch Hunter bits on it when I get some. http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/9408/wwexorcisttank.png Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200251-use-of-whirlwinds-as-exorcist-tanks/#findComment-2385764 Share on other sites

Where did GW say this, I'd be rather interested as I've got some old Black Templar parts that I've been considering modifying into an exorcist. Toogeloo
It's based on WYSIWYG ruling. A Whirlwind exemplifies exactly the same thing an Exorcist does. It's not any different than scratch built hero characters and vehicles, though in most tourney cases, GW asks that a certain percentage of the model be of GW material. The important thing is that the stand in model carry the same wargear options as the actual model is supposed to and is represented as such, and the dimensions of the stand in model are relatively equal to the actual model. Other examples of perfectly acceptable stand ins are using Razorbacks with the proper top mounted weapon to represent Immolators, or Dreadnoughts instead of Penitent Engines. For tourney purposes, all that really matters is that the correct Wargear is represented on the model.
