First Project - Ultramarines

Recommended Posts

Below is one of seven Ultramarines that I have painted in the past few days from the AoBR box set. It's my first go at painting minis and is far from being finished. I started with a white primer, coated it once with a 2:1 mix of Regal Blue (Except for the tactical arrow, soft armor, and the chest), then washed the entire piece with Badab Black. Painted the trim of the shoulders Scorched Brown as well as the chest. Those are the only colors I have so far, my local shop should have more in soon. I'll be going over the trim/chest with Shining Gold and the soft armor/eyes/other spots with Chaos Black.

So far so good. :)

Mixing your blue with the white is one way of adding some highlights to the armour, but if you're gonna get some more colors you can just as well wait for that. I would suggest painting the eagle on the bolter in the same color as the eagle on the chest though.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you! And yeah, I am following a pretty cool tutorial on youtube..

That is part one. So far I think I have had excellent results. I'm going to follow it to a T and if I find something I don't like about it, I'll try something else.

One mistake I have made is painting the arrow on the shoulder blue with most of the other models, I got smart with this last one though.
