DasWolfei
Hello All. As the topic states. How do you put your wash's on your wolves? do you do all your fine detail first? or get your first coats done and dry brushing and then wash it over? Iam in a painting kick but not sure how to go and fix it ; ;. thank you all Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200400-washs-for-wolves/ Share on other sites
khairney
really depends on what part of the armour your washing! personally, i go for the grey armour, so i paint em fortress grey, highlight codex grey, wash badab black, then highlight again with codex grey, then again with fortress grey. then the gold details, then shoulder pads, than bolter, flesh and hair. id definatly tackle it on progressive levels, starting from armour to details. last thing you want is black washing gold armour. thats my open onion anyhoows! winternight
I use a 2:1 Shadow Grey:Scorched Brown wash on my miniatures (obviously watered down a lot to make it a wash). Gives slightly more depth to the miniatures and I quite like the colour combination. http://lh3.ggpht.com/_zI7vEPAiQWc/S8pVdUHLzVI/AAAAAAAAAT0/GXGRC6dE4Pk/s400/termie_01.jpg Undercoat black Basecoat Shadow Grey Wash Shadow Grey over the areas except for the recesses Details Highlights The termie still needs some details and highlights done. stinkenheim
it depends what your using the wash for. if for things liek armour/gold where it is for sading then I basecoat with the colour required and then apply a liberal wash of devlan mud normally as it shades without being too in your face like black would be. if you want to tie colours together or smooth out blending then thats called glazing and its where you apply very thin washes to a surface. i do this after i have highlighted everything on the section im painting. for instance i applied a blue and a purple glaze to my wolf lords armour becuase it was looking too grey, so i painted the armour fully, scracthes and all and then applied very thinned down washes of blue. you hav to keep it thin so as not to over do it, it also means that if the first coat isn't enough you can just add more. so basically for shading, wash before highlights and for glaze wash after.
