My Custom Dante

Twin .44

Recommended Posts

Well, I've spoken of it several times and am just now getting to posting it. I'm not all that amazing with customizing so be gentle in the judgment part. Let me know what you think, thanks!!!

The legs are from the Sanguinary Guard box. I just cut small slits into the foot and indented them deeper with a triangular file. If you look close you'll see only four toes... I screwed up. In retrospect I should have just filed into a proper shape and painted instead of indenting the toes. I got another set of those legs so I may end up doing that instead.

And on the topic of the Death mask I'm customizing one since I despise the Sanguinary Guard Death Masks. I found a similar head to Dante's death mask of sanguinius, file out the teeth and tongue, put the Laurels from the Command Squad box set on it, and the sanguinary guard helmet with the halo I'm cutting off and attacking to the head, then add some guitar wire to the face. Yup, I have no life :HQ:

Since I also hate, hate, hate the Sang Guard masks I'm very much looking forward to seeing how yours comes together.

What are the wings from?

They look like wings from the flying horse model from the Bretonian range.

Awesome looking commander tho dude.

The wings are the Bretonnian Pegasus Wings from the Warhammer Fantasy line.

Thanks for the comments guys, and I also can't wait to see how the head turns out. That's if I ever get the proper bit for the thing.

Veyr nice dude- just one piece of advice. The weapon is very off balance. You need to do one of two things, make the hilt longer (where he is holding it) or make the shaft shorter.

I was thinking the same thing really. I'll probably cut the back end of a boltgun and stick it on or do some more filing to make it shorter.

Dante has a 10 foot pole! :woot: :P

awesome model m8, cant wait to see how it works out :tu:

Yeah, everyone seems to make a jest or two at the size of the axe, but it's quite proportionate to the axe head. That one is friggin' huge so any shorter it looks really awkward. Besides, shouldn't someone as bad ass as Dante weild the biggest angriest axe possible? :P

And thanks for the compliment, I can't wait to see if I do any good on it either

Nice work so far. I agree with Morticon's comments about weapon balance. Looking forward to seeing the model finished.

Makes me feel lazy for just planning to take the metal Dante and stick Sanguinary Guard jump pack/wings on him.

The Sanguinors JP if you've got one. Looks ridiculously sweet

I'm going to build my own Sanguinor out of Sanguinary Guard stuff, just like I did Astorath the Grim (though my version didn't turn out so Grim).

I like it ... though the Axe is way too out of whack for me (I'd have him holding the axe more towards the middle for balance reasons)

I've seen some nice Dante built with Sanguinary Guard armor, using the Sanguinor back pack and wings, and then the person used the Sanguinary Guard body to make the Sanguinor (As his torso / legs are quite small)

Can't wait to see him painted, and can't wait to see the Death Mask as that really will make or break the model.

Looks sharp, waiting with baited breath to see it finished. As to the boots, I like em and wouldn't have noticed the 4-toes if you hadn't pointed it out. (Just call it a flaw in the gene seed.)

Awesome concept Twin.44, really nice. I really dig the wings, they fit extremely well. ;)

I´d agree on the weapon, needs to be a little shorter in the middle part.

And somehow the wings on the knees are a bit off proportion...they look a tad unhandy for running and fighting.

Well, I gave NMM a shot, and i don't know if it's any good to be honest. I think it's alright, especially with no detail brush (damn puppy eating everything!).

So let me know, I would really appreciate it, thanks!!!

At some point I will end up doing another one of him and I'll shorten out the axe handle. I didn't do it this time since I already glued it all together when everyone made the suggestions

The Death mask was definitely the yelling face from the Death Company Sprue, the Laurels were from the terminator box set since I can't GS that small. The Halo is from one of the two box sets. The one with the halo around the helmet cut off where it connects.

I did want a very loud model for Dante. Otherwise he would end up looking like another Sanguinary Guard model and that needed to be avoided at all costs :P

And Morticon, I did lengthen out the gun at the back. I forgot to mention that since it doesn't show in the photos really.
