Lorenzen
its been a very long time since i did anything to my templars (put them in a box when 5th ed hit) and i was getting sick of painting red things and the general bangle spam at my local club was getting to me.. so i decided to do something crazy and converted up a new helbrecht model (again) anyway im sure most of you have skipped the text to look at the pretty picture instead.. so i wont write anything else above it. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd199/typhion/helbrecht-1.jpg once again i decided to use the artwork done by mr gibbons as reference instead of the model, but didnt stick as close to it as last time, adding the iron halo instead of the circlet and his pointy shoes. c&c welcome on both the model and the paint job so far. the thousandth whisper
I really like it, good posing the skin tone is nice, looks a bit ruddy, (he should have worn his helmet ;)) but i like the ruddiness to it looking for updates soon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200432-fire-blood-helbrecht/#findComment-2387310 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
How in the name of the Emperor did you get the cloak away from the rest of the model?!?!?! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200432-fire-blood-helbrecht/#findComment-2387313 Share on other sites
Lorenzen
with a hacksaw! :) seriously.. i had the original lying about, and rather than sculpting up the cloak, arm and lantern for a 3rd time decided to just butcher one of the few decent parts of the model for my conversion. Eberious
Very nice, cant wait to see it painted fully. Great use of the arms and cloak. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200432-fire-blood-helbrecht/#findComment-2387366 Share on other sites
S. Bloodhowl
Very nice, love it, but doesn't Helbrecht have a band with the templar's cross on his forehead? Lorenzen
not the biggest update in the world.. but thats how i roll! http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd199/typhion/DSC00023.jpg the normal helbrecht does indeed have a band running across his forehead.. but i think it looks silly on the model so gave him a "proper" iron halo instead of his iron tiara. and dug out of the box of templar related goodies from my old army.. heres a taster of his as of yet unfinished rhino. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd199/typhion/DSC00024.jpg on a more random note.. i was listening to "epic" music whilst doing the blood angels (aqua vitae.. check it out its pure 40k) but for some reason im listening to barrington levy whilst painting helbrecht.. because obviously thats fitting.. Eberious
Nice freehand on the rhino, I done the same on a banner, not as good but was some time ago I did anything really BT related. You must stop tempting me to pick up my BT's in the middle of doing BA's. Not sure how the rules work, but wont you get a lot more attacks done against you using a terminator base. ?? Marshal Rohr
Can you take a picture of the right side and back, where you have joined the cloak to the model? Lorenzen
as requested, heres a pic of the back of the model, most of what you can see is greenstuff blended into the metal piece used for the cape. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd199/typhion/DSC00040.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200432-fire-blood-helbrecht/#findComment-2388676 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
Ok, so you just, literally, cut the model in half? Then blended the Greenstuff into a super thick cloak layer? I am considering doing this, as I have a Helbrecht model lying around... Lorenzen
yup, once i had cut the model in half (i recommend a dremmel.. doing it by hand took the piss) i just glued it into position and sculpted the back of the robes and altered a few of the folds to make them fit the new model. Marshal Rohr
Hmm.... what dremel bit did you use to cut the model? I have a few, but the are more for grinding. Also, where are the rest of your models? This guy is great, but who is he in charge of. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200432-fire-blood-helbrecht/#findComment-2388694 Share on other sites
Lorenzen
i used a hacksaw.. but i know you can get rotary tools with sawblades. ive got about 6k of templars in various boxes (havent been unpacked since i moved) will be revisiting the army properly once ive finished my 3rd company blood angels, as my painting has improved a lot since i originally did them.
