Got one tac squad painted up so far. Have their Rhino base coated, just needs painted. Also have a Ravenwing Battleforce on order. Went with the pre-heresy colors, still need to add icons to the left shoulders on all of them. Still have some touch ups to do also. Let me know what you guys think. These are the first mini's I've ever modeled and painted. So some tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated.

very good for your first ever attempt, i would have never attempted any sort of conversion on my first go.

 

Your green looks very dark, if your going for a standard DA look id lighten it up a bit. Also try using thinner coats of paint, its noticable on the areas that you have used silver that its quite thick, thinner layers will help preserve the detail on the plastics.

 

I would also strongly advise adding heads to your marines so they can see where they are going and eat pies etc. (yes of course marines love steak and kidney pie!)

Finally getting an update posted. I've since gotten some highlights done on the models. The grips on the bolters are now blue, along with the eyes on the helms. The MaxMini Steam Knight helms came in and they have been painted up and attached. I also hand painted the tac squad icons and old red Dark Angels icons on because the decals were pissing me off. Also got the first steps of some basing done. Let me know what you guys think. I'm really happy with how my first batch turned out. I am currently putting some raven wing bikers together, I am converting all of the bikes to choppers so its taking a little time. I'll get some pics up one I have them all glued. Also got Sammael's speeder glued together (got that thing doesn't fit together correctly), I want to fill in the gaps before I paint so that will probably happen after the bikers are glued.

Here is a pic of one of my sergent bikers almost finished up. All that needs done is his base and some highlights on the black. I converted the bike into a chopper style bike instead of going with the normal bikes, as you can tell I don't like to do traditional stuff >.< Also does anybody have any tips on doing high lights on black? The high lights on my tac squad turned out ok but i'm finding out that I suck at high lights with a paint brush. I got a silver sharpie paint pen that I've done some highlights with and it turned out real nice, unfortunately sharpie does not have a grey paint pen :D and the blue turned out to be too light for the highlights.
