Bloodmange
So If I have a Wolf Lord with a Frost Axe and a Storm Shield on a Thunder Wolf Mount does that mean I get 5 strenth 6 attacks all with rending? Or since its a Special Weapon does that mean none are rending? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200498-wolf-lord-question/ Share on other sites
TiguriusX
Rending rule does not apply to special weapons. Once you upgrade him from the basic CCW it goes away *EDIT* p.62 of SW codex Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200498-wolf-lord-question/#findComment-2388210 Share on other sites
Taeken
Yup... even Canis - which is lame. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200498-wolf-lord-question/#findComment-2388219 Share on other sites

WulfenBrother
I don't have my book with me but I think it does say rending in Canis' profile. So because he has the twin wolf claws does that mean you can choose to use the attacks between wolf claw attacks and regular rending attacks?? Stormbrow II
AFAIK - no. As he has 2 special weapons (and only has 2 hands) he has no other weapons to use so he's stuck with them. Canis is ass anyway. I fail to see how a TWL with 5 S6 Power Weapon attacks is lame btw. Penning Tanks on 5's and killing most infantry on 2's is nothing to be sniffed at. Stormbrow II
I've seen rules-lawyering you wouldn't believe so you'll forgive me for assuming that I was expecting a 70-line rebuttal from yourself, and another 70 posts arguing for either side before the topic was locked. "I know LC allow you to re-roll any roll to wound. Surely that extends to Fists and Hammers in combat because the RB says 'any roll to wound'. Why doesn't it extend to shooting attacks too?" Stormshrug
Yeah, I saw that argument about LC rerolls applying to all other weapons. That's legalism at its most boneheaded. -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200498-wolf-lord-question/#findComment-2388390 Share on other sites
Zhukov
I think Canis his attacks do have the Rending rule, why? Well: -He has 2 lightning claws and by the rules he cannot 'turn off' the effects of this. He must use them. Why would rending be in his profile if he cant benefit from it? Or: by the normal rules for a thunderwolf Rending would be replaced anyhow...why write it in his profile then? -In normal thunderwolf profile it says: rending (close combat only). With Canis it doesnt say this, because he doesnt have any ranged attacks. So that also shows they actually took this into account when writing the Rending rule in Canis his profile! They could have letten the rule out in total right?. -This is not really a reason, more an example of another one who has it: SM character Captain Shrike: Lightning Claws with the Rending rule, but of course this is different as its clearly in his profile here. Stormshrug
in the GW faq it says canis loses rending. Was this FAQ written by the same person who wrote the codex within GW? If so, that's some pretty silly game design right there. Not that Rending is terribly worthwhile these days if you already ignore armor anyway. An extra 1.5 against vehicles 1/6th of the time is pretty blah. -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200498-wolf-lord-question/#findComment-2388673 Share on other sites
Zhukov
in the GW faq it says canis loses rending. I see. Strange, I would have written it different in the codex myself then, but unfortunately I dont write them :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200498-wolf-lord-question/#findComment-2388683 Share on other sites
