Grimtooth
I am pretty sure on the answer, but running it by here. If I toss a RP in a Land Raider and am casting Storm Caller, the effect is measured from the hull of the Land Raider thus giving you an extended range of the cover save due to the size of the Land Raider. Seems cheesy, but the BRB says that effects are measured from the hull. Edit: I know the controversy about this rule that some have that the cover save does not apply to vehicles because for vehicles to get a cover save, it must be obscured, but the group I play with does consider the Storm Caller ability to apply to vehicles. Stormshrug
If the rules are as you say, sounds like you're set (given the house rule on Stormcaller). -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200524-rune-priest-in-a-land-raider/#findComment-2388527 Share on other sites
Grimtooth
If the rules are as you say, sounds like you're set (given the house rule on Stormcaller). -Stormshrug Well I know the SW FAQ changed the wording from "squads" to "units" within 6" which would then include vehicles. Since Storm Caller is not psychic shooting attack, I don't need a fire point either. I was just thinking a Land Raider with Rune Priest inside, surrounded by my other transports/units would be a moving 5+ cover save up the field of battle with the Land Raider getting a 4+ for the other transports surrounding it. Ragnars Claw
Yep thats the way it works. Though its of dubious value because turn 1 you plough forward 12" then fire smoke which gives your vehicles a 4+ save anyway and then next turn its usually drive forward and assault whilst the rhinos/razorbacks drive forward and rapid fire people. Its great if you want to play a defensive msu type army with lots of 5 man squads in razorbacks backed by speeders and long fangs as it means you get a save but can still fire with full effect. I could have some Fenrisian wolves, Sky Claws, or TWC running around that would benefit as well. Godhead
I typically cast tempest wrath out of my LR. I'm a fan. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200524-rune-priest-in-a-land-raider/#findComment-2388640 Share on other sites
Zhukov
Yep thats how it works and I would not really call it cheesy or anything like that either. Eldar do it all the time with Eldrad in a vehicle and Blood Angels with Priests in a vehicle etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200524-rune-priest-in-a-land-raider/#findComment-2388643 Share on other sites

You could indeed :P Personally i would prefer to use the smoked vehicles to shield them for a turn which would free up the rune priest to cast other things like tempests wrath but both are equally viable.
