I finally got some batteries for the camera, and got the pics uploaded, so here we are.

One of the Sainguinary Guard that I'm painting for a friend. 1 of the 1.5 done out of 5. (These pics are before he was finished.)

My first attempt at an NMM blade. Obviously not very realistic, but I am happy it didn't come out looking horrible.

This guy may have popped up in a WIP before, I don't know, but he hasn't gotten a whole lot of progress, but hopefully he will.

The Iron Priest on the first page is in pieces. I'm hoping he will be deemed acceptable as a model for a character in some fan-fiction I've been reading. I hope the wwriter can pick between these two chest pieces.

Old-meets-new razorback for said fan fiction.

And what you've been waiting for ( I hope)........

Haha, just kidding, here he is. The green-stuff "cord" on his grip is a stand-in until I find some guitar string to wrap it in.

Soooo, what do you think?

Since everything was just sticking on with the green stuff, Ive pulled it off. Now I have the techmarine body sitting in a pickle jar with acetone to get all that damn plastic cement off. I got it second hand, it had been put together with quite a bit of plastic cement, and then dipped in a mixture of house paint and tacky glue. Or thats what it looked like at least.

After a good scrubbing with some hot water, and a toothbrush after his acetone bath, he was dubbed clean. Right now, with the exception of his ax arm, he is looking classy in his freshly primed black. He will probably be red and black for the most part, I haven't truly decided yet though.

Just painted the shield, and I have to admit, I think it looks really good. On camera, its a bit of a different story, it does not like metallics. So I'm sorry the pictures are a little off, it may also look dull due to the purity seal coat. I had to spray it because the paint on the ridges and corners was just wearing off from some gentle handling.

So please let me know what you think of the models coming along, and the shield so far.

So, thats probably all for tonight, I've been procrastinating, and the schoolwork has piled high!

The shield looks ok. Is it meant to be a trophy fashioned into a shield or merely a shield? It seems to be the former, to me.

As to the cloak for the techmarine dude, I think it needs to come over his shoulders a little more. At the moment it feels like it's merely held by attachments on his back and looks stiff where it stops abruptly before coming over his shoulders. I hope I'm not too late saying this. :tu:

He looks very good otherwise though. Just not complete. :)

The shield is a trophy, kind of. He saved his wolf lord by landing the final blow on a trygon, and so took it as his trophy. He was playing around with it's skeleton one day, thought the "skull-cap" was really cool and just the right size for a shield, so he made one just like it.

Yes the cloak is not quite right. I've been trying to think of ways to cover this up, like sculpting the other leg, but the other three are dangling on the back, so that doesn't work. The tail is there too, so I'm not quite sure what to do. I primed light, so I can sculpt some more puddy on there and prime it again. What I have noticed, is that there can be a big difference between the looks of the unpainted model, and the painted one, so some times I go ahead and prime it lightly.

I got a little paint on him. It looks much better in person, the highlights don't seem quite so stark. He has a long way to go, but having a little color on him can help see where he's headed. I don't think I'm going to keep the tin bitz on the legs, I think I'm just going to use that for little things. Looks too gold.

Without the shield.

With the shield. I had to take these sideways because the glue on the shield wouldn't set.

Again, he does have a long way to go, but I think he is going to turn out pretty good. I hope so at least. Now I just have to figure out what to do about that cloak "lip"......

Any thoughts?

I just added a layer of gloss stuff (I can't remember what its called) mixed with Blue Ink to the librarians ax. It looks so much better now its not even funny, it removed the stripy-ness and it now looks as its made of the coldest darkest water you can think of.

Then I applied the same stuff, just mixed with Red Gore to those BA Sang. Guard. I have to get those done for that friend. Its going to require a second, pure gloss coat, as the paint dulled it considerably.

Alright so here are some pictures finally. I quite like this clear gloss stuff, and heres what I have done with it lately. It looks much better in real life btw :P . I may add another layer of it mixed with blue ink, made the ax look like deep, dark, cold water.

In the last photo, I quite like the effect I painted on it, it will be getting some "blood gloss" mixture, but I want to keep it visible.

I hate painting faces, yet I play Space Wolves, something is wrong :P . They turn out pretty good, until I try to add flesh wash or paint the eyes. I like painting the grey though, Adeptus Battle Grey just goes on so smooth, and the hair turned out well, its 50/50 Mechrite Red/Scorched Earth. Then its highlighted with 25/75 Mechrite Red/Codex Grey.

,

Anyways this is Eldi, a Wolf Guard Terminator. He wields a heavy flamer and power fist, as well as carrying a horn of mead on his belt, it is for those who are at the gates of morkai only.

i fear i might be too late with this, but i think a strap of GS would be needed on his shield arm, cuz the grip is positioned kinda low on the shield and it looks hard to wield in that way.

nice paintjob and conversions nonetheless, keep it coming B)

Why thank you, and that is quite a fine idea, I will probably add a strap higher up on his forearm. I can sculpt it on, let it dry, then remove it, prime it, and glue it back on, so no harms done. And I need to re-do some of the painting on that arm anyways.

I did some work on Eldi's power fist arm. It is nearly done, I only need to paint the flex armor joint, and the cord, which is going to be a pain with those claws/teeth and rune. Maybe some touch up to. Then it shal be sprayed with some purity seal. I know his left eye is screwed up after looking at it again, but I really had a tough time at it in the first place, all well. ;)

I'm finished moving for the most part, and I brought some things to paint with me. What I will be focusing on for the next two weeks from today, are those Saainguinary Guard that I owe my friend. I picked up some resin bases from the new (to me) FLGS for them. This is a test base, the photos didn't come out quite right but you should get the picture.

Your marines are looking good so far, especially the weapons. I am going to try that gloss stuff on my next power weapon, thanks for the tip. I have a suggestion for you regarding the tech marine's weapon handle. Instead of using guitar string, which I find to be terrible to work with I use some very small gauge copper wire from Radio Shack for all my wiring and cables. I bought a three pack of wire that is used to wind electric RC car motor armatures. It was cheap and came in three different gauges, from super fine to a little thicker than a hair. I actually take a piece and wind another length of wire around it like a spring. I then glue on one end, bend and shape to fit wherever I want it and then cut the end flush. You can then glue the end in place wherever you need it. It looks better than guitar wire, is easier to bend to shape and holds its shape better than guitar wire. I now use it on all my conversions and will never go back to guitar string again. Hope that was easy to follow and helps you out. If you have any questions feel free to pm me and I can send you pics if you want. Keep up the good work.

Just finished the other four bases, but I'm out of time for today, and I really need to get back to studying. Hopefully in the next two days or so I can finish these so I can get my own army ready for 'Ard Boyz.

Well, as the topic description now says, I'm rushing for 'Ard Boyz! I haven't been getting anything done on my own army, and now I'm paying for it. So today I just got a little done on a land speeder, built a lascannon Long Fang, put together a wolf claw wolf guar, and slapped Eldi on some legs. No more painting until it's all assembled, sorry.

I just went down to the FLGS, dropped off my list, picked up an attack bike, normal bike, a new fine paintbrush, and a pack of exacto blades. Now all that I need is to mooch a plasma cannon or two from some other players, and the army will be done. Most of it is going to be pretty rough, but it only needs to be assembled not painted. Hopefully I can get some painted before hand, and if I make it semi's, I should have it all looking much better by then.

Well, I used the Multi-Melta from the attack bike to finish the guns on the speeder. The brass rod on the spear doesn't look as pretty as the original banner shaft, but you get the idea. I just can't figure out what to do with his left arm, it's a real tight fit with the pilot's shoulder there. I also magnatized the "shaft" of the flying base to the bottom of the speeder. Before, the little pin on the shaft was too small, and the hole in the speeder was too big. You wouldn't be ablle to keep the speeder on there for your life before, now it can just about point straight up and down without falling off.

And this is what the spear used to look like before the shaft broke.
