Marcharius Vulcan Tank

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I have spent the last few weeks trying to find out more about this tank. All I can find is it is a Super Heavy and its in the Imperial Armour book that I dont have and I cannot find around my local hobby stores. If any one has any knowledge about this tank I would be really thankful for it.

What kind of info? What I can say is that has structure points but isn't really worth taking in apocalypse...

The Macharius in general is a sort of 'Second Generation' of Baneblade. While it does not possess the Armor, advanced logic engines, engine performance, armor bracing or sheer firepower of the BaneBlade, it still functions as a Heavy Tank. The Vulcan Mounts a single Turret Mounted Vulcan Mega-Bolter, which along with the options for secondary weapons ranging from Heavy Bolters, Heavy Flamers, and the Standard Heavy Stubbers, it functions as an effective anti-Infantry vehicle. Re-discovered by Magos Nalax on Lucius. Interesting note: Only carries enough Ammunition for 20 seconds of continuous firing.

Anything else you would like to know?

The size of the tank compared to the size of the weapon is a drawback of this pattern, as it can only carry enough ammunition for 20 seconds of continuous fire - as such it is not uncommon for Macharius Vulcan crews to fill all interior stowage bins with additional ammunition, as well as yet more crates of ammunition as external stowage.
:)

Clever idea guys, clever idea.

Not unheard of in real life however. At least one soviet tank had external ammo stowage for its AA machinegun as standard (T-64 I think it was) - which was safe because it was such low calibre that it couldn't damage the tank if it cooked off. I imagine the same would apply to the vulcan ammo bolted - ruleswise the Vulcan can only glance a Macharius from the rear, and that presumably requires a direct hit with the armour piercing pointy bit pointing forward, so it would presumably be safe to stow ammo on the thicker side armour with the bolts pointing sideways or outwards.

Thats great info guys. Ive seen such things around the web. Im trying to make my own for my Ultramarine army. I was trying to find the armor values and relivant point cost. I am trying to build one using the old vcr but it seems low to me. But if any one has the Imperial Armour Siege of Vraks Trilogy. That has all the rules for them. But Thank you all for the info. I'll post some pics when I close to the final product.
