Will it be legal to have Luna Wolves color+Space Wolves rule

Hi all,

 

After reading Horus Heresy novels and Dornian Heresy, I got inspired to paint my models in Luna Wolves color scheme. However, since I first decided to have Space Wolves army when I started to collect models, I just have Codex: Space Wolves. So my question is, will it be public-tournament/event legal to have an army that have Luna Wolves colored, yet follows Space Wolves rule? (well at least they share "Wolves" in their name...)

They may share Wolves in there name but I think their combat doctrine was much different. I would say Codex: Space Marine would serve you well.

 

As for tournament rules, I really don't know, but with C:SM, which can represent any DIY chapter, I don't see how they could not allow you to use it.

Since there are no official rules for pre-heresy era Luna Wolves you will probably get away with using any Marine Codex you want for the, as long as you register them properly at the tournament. However, I would have to second EPK in that the Luna Wolves are more described as a tactically flexible and adaptable force, and not quite as ferocious as the Space Wolves. So they were more likely organised similar to the Ultramarines.

i would say tenatively say yes, but would recommend a few restrictions: no thunder wolf cav or fenrisian wolves, blood claws, swift claws or skyclaws...well nothing too wolfy.

 

the wolf guard, grey hunters and long fangs can be made generic enough to fit most ideas, and have a good line of equipment options that makes them worth taking.

Well, I still like Space Wolves, yet I prefer Luna Wolves' coloring. Not sure if I'm going to put Space Wolves mark or Luna Wolves mark on them.
