The roads are indeed 6" wide, it felt like the right scale for "civilian" vehicles and they are wide enough for a Land Raider to ride through. However, I only recommend this way of making roads if you're planning on giving your vehicles a base, otherwise you'll keep scratching the paint out of the tracks...
