Thranquil
Greetings I am halfway through collecting an Iron Snakes force - so far it stands at around 1500pts of random Sons of Ithaka goodness. However with the release of Space Wolves and Blood Angels my attention began to wander to building a new army... but which to choose. Carry on with Iron Snakes, start Wolves, or start Angels? Happily whilst re-reading Eisenhorn it struck me there is a fourth way - do all 3! I will be curing my itch by painting up a 10man Deathwatch squad made of members from (amongst others) those 3 armies. That way I can postpone making an actual decision and still feed the hobby addiction! (In game terms they will be used as Sternguard) Here is where you, the good people of the Intermaweb come in - help me round out the squad! There are places for 10x chapters. 5 are taken by chapters I've either collected or always loved. Space Wolves (sporting a PW), Blood Angels (with chainsword), Dark Angels (with Chapter icon), White Scars (with chainsword and top-knot) and Iron Snakes. Remaining I have a Power Fist marine and 4 bolter marines. Question is which chapters do they come from? Any ideas? Ideally they should be different chapter colours to those listed above, and preferably 'official' Chapters.... other than that all ideas are welcome! http://img266.imagevenue.com/loc61/th_16014_photo_122_61lo.jpg http://img21.imagevenue.com/loc69/th_16019_photo1_122_69lo.jpg http://img139.imagevenue.com/loc339/th_16024_photo2_122_339lo.jpg And as an added bonus - complete with Inquisitor. http://img159.imagevenue.com/loc470/th_16028_photo3_122_470lo.jpg Thranquil Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200911-deathwatch-help-me-fill-out-the-squad/ Share on other sites

husi2100
the fist marine has to be imperial fist or crimson fist i would also say that a ultramarine should be included Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200911-deathwatch-help-me-fill-out-the-squad/#findComment-2393541 Share on other sites
Thranquil
Those were my initial thoughts about the power first marine too! I'm more incline for the Imperial Fist for 2 reasons - 1) gives me a chance to paint yellow, and 2) can't see Pedro letting many veterans go after Rynns World. Iron Hand is interesting... what colour would that make his shoulder pad? Black? blackoption
After Rynn's world, Crimson Fists are likely to be highly sought after for any missions against Orks. Plus, the Crimson Fists have historically been strong supporters of the Deathwatch. Though I don't think he has to send a veteran to the Deathwatch. I always considered Deathwatch service to be equivalent to 1st Company service. So the deathwatch is a natural progression for marines who are becoming veterans. Thranquil
@ blackoption: I can see your point, I did think about the Ork connection. Which brings me back to not being sure which Fist to use! Yellow or dark blue? @ LunCHBiZZLe: Space shark? interesting.... so a light blue/grey shoulder pad? We have 4 possible chapters so far! Any background justifications? i.e Crimson Fists for anti-ork. Any eldar specialists? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200911-deathwatch-help-me-fill-out-the-squad/#findComment-2393572 Share on other sites
commander alexander
I would say have the first founding chapters, important second foundings ( Black Templar, Crimson Fists Etc.) , and then any other chapters you find suitable. -Smurfs are your anti-tyranid boyz in blue, but they're smurfs. -As said before Crimson Fists would be your anti-orks. -Raven Guard would be your covert specialists. -Blood Angels, Black Templars, and Space Wolves would be general assault specialists. -Dark Angels are your cool headed tacticians. -Imperial Fists are your siege experts. -Salamanders are of course your pyro-technicians. -White Scars are the lightning assault specialists. -Iron Hands would be armor specialists. Thranquil
Thanks! Hadn't thought of their chapter traits! Easier reasons to come up with than 'who's good at fighting xenos?' - all marines should be pretty good at it. Will have a bash at freehanding some chapter symbols and see who I can do. Or as is more likely - whether I have the required transfers after I give up trying to freehand. Koyote
Left to right: Ultramarine, Iron Hand, Mortifactor, and Black Templar. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i200/10011970/sternguard3.jpg Left to right: Space Wolf, Imperial Fist, White Scar, and Flesh Tearer. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i200/10011970/sternguard4.jpg Ultramarine: I wanted to use at least one marine taking a knee in the squad, and because of their level headed nature, I figured that an Ultramarine would make a good candidate for this. I equipped him with the cool Company Champion to represent his elite status and fancy the model up a bit. The right arm shoulder pad is a molded plastic Ultramarines shoulder pad from the command squad kit. Iron Hand: This model's bionic legs and bionic implants symbolize the Iron Hands' revulsion for the weakness of flesh. The auspex symbolizes the chapter's affinity for technology. The right arm shoulder pad is a molded metal Iron Hands shoulder pad. Mortifactor: You can't see it in this pic, but I used the power fist with the skull on its surface and an arm with a skull on the top of the left hand to represent the Mortifactors' obsession with skulls and death. The screaming Deathwatch head works nicely with the pointing power fist arm. The right arm shoulder pad is the molded metal Death Company shoulder pad with the unadorned skull. Black Templar: The arms, torso, and head are all from the Black Templars sprue. The right arm shoulder pad is a molded plastic Black Templar shoulder pad. Space Wolf: Originally constructed for my 13th Company army, this model is too cool to be left collecting dust with the rest my lost wolves. The blowing of the horn represents both the Space Wolves' straight forward nature and their barbaric background. The head and torso are from the Space Wolves sprue. The horn is from the plastic Chaos Marrauder sprue. The right arm shoulder pad is a molded metal Space Wolf shoulder pad. Imperial Fist: A Space Marine armed with a heavy flamer is no longer available from GW, so I had to make my own. The heavy flamer backpack, arms, and weapon body are multi-melta bits taken from the plastic Dev sprue. The flamer barrels and gun-sight are taken from the plastic Terminator heavy flamer. The right arm shoulder pad is a molded metal Imperial Fist shoulder pad. White Scar: To give a nod to the White Scars preference for mobility, this model is running. Also, to symbolize this chapter's barbaric roots and loathing of the Dark Eldar (their primarch disappeared fighting them), this model is carrying the severed elf head trophy from the Dark Elf Cold One Chariot kit. The right arm shoulder pad is a molded metal White Scar shoulder pad. Flesh Tearer: As a long time Blood Angel player, I had to include a son of Sanguinius in this squad. The torso is plastic Bezerker torso with the bandoleer of bullets across the chest. The Khorne symbol on the belt buckle was shaved off and replaced with a skull. The chain axe is a the Khorne Bezerker aspiring champion bit. The helmet comes from the Black Templar sprue. The right arm shoulder pad is a molded metal Flesh Tearer shoulder pad. Each model is equipped with grenades and either a holstered bolt pistol or close combat weapon -WYSIWYG. Eschelund
Make the Imprerial fist to a Salamander it more fluffy cause of the flamer. And nice conversions mate Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200911-deathwatch-help-me-fill-out-the-squad/#findComment-2393895 Share on other sites
Koyote
Make the Imprerial fist to a Salamander it more fluffy cause of the flamer. Nah, that choice is too obvious. Besides, the Imperial Fists are renowned for their expertise at siege warfare and flamers work well against fortifications. http://worldwartwozone.com/photopost/data/500/medium/jia_flame_throw.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200911-deathwatch-help-me-fill-out-the-squad/#findComment-2393939 Share on other sites
