Requiem of the Wolf
Nope there not HQ IC's they are ELITE unit one slot can have 1-3 preists than can be loaded up differently and do not have to be placed togeather on the board and can be picked out in CC due to being a IC however the Sang Novitie in the Honour Guard can be picked out in combat but cannot be up graded. So its a seperate unit then? that gives bonuses to people around them? Sanguinary Novitiate cannot be singled out on combat, he is not an IC. The Elite Sanguinary Priests can be, as they are ICs. I play both armies, and SW characters are just as good as BA characters. Each group has advantages and disadvantages. Korraz
Most BAs will only field 1-3 Priests, since there is so much awesome stuff in the Elites. Yes, the Blood Claws for the Dreads ARE nasty, but they are worse for Horde Armies, since the Dread can rip apart the giant Guardsmen units of doom and the like. I tend to say, that they are in fact pretty good for us. CC-Dreadnoughts hit always bad in CC, thats what they are about. But those claws ensure it, that the unit gets wiped out or at least tactically re-positions, so it can be blasted into oblivion. Nothing is worse, than a CC-Unit, that stays in combat during your round and then is free to charge again in it's own. And Tempest's Wrath is obviously awesome against BAs. Now, I don't say it's easy, but it'll be a great and balanced game. rodgambit
If they field Mephiston you need to shoot him to death before he gets into CC. He will destroy most anything you can throw at him in close combat. Maybe a TWC unit with SS and a hammer could do him in but that is a lot more points than the 250 Mephiston cost and he will strike first and instant kill your toughness 5 models. If they field sang priest and get them involved in close combat I would allocate a few attacks towards them to try and take them out since they have no invul and are 1 wound models. This will eliminate their feel no pain and furious charge. Their troops are not as beefy as ours so if it is an objective game and they run small razor back units of 5 men you could neutralize their ability to score more easily. If they run any DC remember that they must rage towards the closest enemy unit so use that to your advantage to protect more valuable units. Most BA run DC in transports now so bust it early and make them rage across the board so they don't get into close combat. If they run a heavy drop pod list try and go 2nd and reserve your army. I often take a razorback for my longfangs so if I need to reserve I can bring everything in with a transport and get set up. (move 12, disembark, run into position) Hope that helps. jeremy1391
here is what i would do. deploy into your corner in a refused flank semi tight so as to not allow drop pods to get behind anyone. 1. take 2 squads of long fangs one with 5 MM and one with 5 PC the reasoning a large amount of BA's like to deepstrike so the PC's are for those nice tight clusters of DC an RAS squads (feel no pain on that sucka) and the MM is for the inevitable Furioso(s) in drop pods landing in you AO since he will be all up in your face the reduced range of the MM over other weapons wont really matter. 2. Rune priests muderous hurricane/storm caller, Living lightning/storm caller, tempests wrath/storm caller master of runes on all reasoning; shut down mephiston or any of the furioso librarians that will make an appearance/ slow down his advance/ pop transports/ hurt his deep strikers and cover your men!!! 3. Logan or Ragnar they are both beasts in combat and their one use abilities can be game changing!!!! 4. As many Grey hunters as you can fit into your list!!!! reasononing; hardest troops in the imperium! take dual plasma or melta in the stategy i posted there is no need for transports, also ensure each squad has some close combat gear. 5. a squad of 10 wolf guard kitted for CC detach to your squads for the LD boost and the extra CC power. 6. 2 riflemen dreads with TLLC and ML this will help with the problem of his transports and deep striking dreads. who cares if BA dreads are better in the assault phase, if he's immobilized or blown up before then it doesnt matter =) 7. sprinkle in a few Landspeeder typhoons for late game contesting and mobile gun platforms and of course kiting his DC  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200960-if-you-had-to-beat-the-blood-angels-at-all-costs/page/2/#findComment-2403925 Share on other sites
Requiem of the Wolf
Mephiston's psychic hood did more to harm me then him in CC the one and only time I faced Blood angels (last night) in fact, my grey hunter pack, after its rune priest periled himself to death and its Redeemer got blown up by a Dread because I didn't realize that Death or Glory meant a Weapon or CC attack from a Dread. Then they piled out,and a Mark of the Wulfen and a Powersword ended up killing Mephiston. He only had 3 wounds left at the time, but still. Against a decent sized pack with Powerweapon and Wulfen/WG with Powerweapon and maybe a Wolf priest...he isn't that difficult to take down if he is alone and you have enough troops to soak up the wounds he gives out. Though I had a very discomforting realization about Dreadnaughts in CC...With the list I was running I didnt have anything that could bust his armor since i was using powerswords instead of powerfists...So now my guy's with WTN are taking Melta bombs...since they get to hit on a 3+ with them. Granted this player also forgot to test for Red Thirst...which sense i had Tempest's wrath till my Rune priest killed himself (2 perils in 4 tests...it sucked) could have hurt him alot.
