New Wolf and his army

You guys are a great motivation, thanks a lot :]

I'll try and work myself through all questions.

Excellent models, Please give us a tutorial of how you painted the grey. Also please keep posting your work here.

The grey is a simple 70:30 mixture of shadow grey and space wolves grey. You could achieve a similar effect that's easier to reproduce by mixing both colours 50:50.

And yes, I definately plan on doing so.

how long does all that blending take? how long did it take to paint the entire dreadnought?

That depends. The terminators, for example, only got brighter blendings towards some edges, while the runepriest's armour was additionally darkened towards the shadowy areas (the kneecap for example.)

Most of the blendings shown were achieved rather quickly, I guess an hour per terminator with about 6 mixtures. Of course the time used for blending is easily expandable, depending on how smooth you want the transitions to be.

The entire Dread however took me about 4 evenings of intermitted work.

Dear lord , you my friend are a good painter , looking extra cash for doing commissions ? XD seriously

Never thought about that actually, but at some point, sure. ;]

How did you make the eyes on the wolf claw termie so... glowy? Really amazing stuff. Luv to see more rolleyes.gif

The technique is called Object Source Lighting - OSL. There are a lot of tutorial online if you wanna check it out. Basically it's just working various glazes (highly diluted paint) over areas that would be touched by the source's light, and contains blending techniques.

Hope that could help you out, feel free to ask if anything's ambigous.

While I am not a particular fan of the style, I applaud and congratulate you for the effort and the amazing results you put forth. Kudos to you if you can finish an army to this quality.

Heh, I hear you. I tried grittier wolves at one point too, but it started to bore me pretty fast, so I went with the 70's chopper look. ;]
